I would urge people not to compare and contrast ggp to SOLG. The only similarities are gold and a few shareholders. It’s natural for Solgold supporters to should ‘it should have been us’ and jealousy is natural too, if somewhat unbecoming.
It’s not a rel val trade long SOLG vs short ggp, if it were you would have been carried out a long long time ago.
I just hope that Solgold sorts it’s mess out and get some new sticky shareholders for about 250m shares and then we might trade higher. It’s a safe hold here, but no more than that till the management do something to affect the sp. I feel that I am done here now as I am starting to repeat myself as much as everyone else.

That assumes that solgold make it out the other side. A lower risk strategy would have been to sell alpala a year ago and go find the next two three or four alpalas. But NM chose the high risk high reward strategy. After a year solgold has gone nowhere and ggp is up 12 fold. Harry Gibbs would have called this boxing match off a long time ago.

Quady there a lot of comparisons some better than others. Yours is valid but I would add .....compare the ceos and what people think of them. Obviously that could just be the sp but people were saying it before it moved.

Miagi, as you say trading is hard work. It also takes up a lot of time and I am supposed to be retired with other things to do! Covid has kept me stuck at home more than I want so I have a bit more time unfortunately. However the word 'trading' conjures up different thoughts in different people. My trading was relative value so was larger in size but with smaller outcomes. So not one of those with 8 screens and 100s of trades a day. Some days we didnt trade at all.
So you may have a different idea to me of what 'trading' is.
All I am saying now is this isnt a buy and hold strategy anymore, its one where I will look to take profits and re-enter the trade when it pulls back, but with a core holding all the time. It would appear that I can make a few thousand a week, which eventually will get the value of my entry price to just the single multiples of KB's....

To be honest I have no idea. I did think that NC would have bought us by end of this year, but that was my thoughts a year ago. This success we are having is making it more expensive for NC which is good and may allow us to get to grips with the main upside exploration areas. I would prefer if we kept these but it all depends on how they are valued. Scallys results may make things clearer.
Personally I hope that there is a clean exit for GGP from Hav and I can retire to a sunbed and parasol at my villa in Majorca (which I dont have!). But thats putting my personal wishes before whats best for the company.

Morning KB. My purchases are between 13 and 40p with an average around 30. I got sucked into buying a breakout at the upper 30s 15-18months ago which is why my average is high. I now have about 1.5m but I am going to trade these fairly aggressively as I have lost faith in the company, the management and the sp. When they do something that positively affects the sp and therefore me, I might choose to become an investor again.
BBG I think I can confidently say that I am none of those things you suggest.
Miagi. You are right but I have been a trader for the past 40 years so I dont suppose I can stop now. Firstly a commodity trader then an equity trader.

Thats interesting BBG, cos I think I am an investor who has backed the wrong horse! And I have had to become a trader to improve my chances of getting out of this mess.

Hi speedy. I am quite tempted to get big in discovery...just think if silver does $50 then DSV could be $10-15. Which would be nice...

YNWA, my main gripe is that you might be doubting me. Assuming that you a fellow Liverpool supporter - 55 yrs and counting here - we should stick together! So, most purchased last year between 1.5-1.8. Some more this year on the breakout. Quite why I have to justify this is quite sad really.

Actually it was mid 600ks but over 18months. Thought it the best opportunity in 40 yrs. still do.

Hi zoros my diversification is marginal....most is in PMs and the miners and explorers. I don’t know enough about many stocks to go off and pile into them so solgold is one of a few. It’s v cheap but always wonder about the catalyst? But the downside is quite limited. Agree that the resource here is huge but there are a lot of limitations. $2.7bn vs 35mn for a start! Ecuador vs the pilbara. If alpala was in the pilbara I think even with nm at the helm the shares would be well over a fiver.
I also owned a few Lloyds a year or so ago but wouldn’t touch a bank now. In fact that really aren’t many shares I like. Discovery metals is my second fave. ATB.
