RE: Excellent business model8 Jan 2021 10:18
pardariff - I'm with Richob that I agree in the main. "for the last 6 months have not delivered a test and like it or not this has meant a large shortfall in potential income to the company"
No disputing the above. However, what I think a lot of people are missing is that the longer term business model revolves around the same IP, Affimers. Delivering a sub par test impacts that long term business plan significantly. So I am of the opinion AS sees a lot more money in the long game than the shorter term Covid opportunity. However, the fact Avct continue to work on it suggests they are keen to benefit, it just has to be with the right, best in class product.
Covid herd investors dont like that because it scuppers the 5000000% in a day gains they wanted, but that's the opportunity cost here. As a LTH, I am more than happy we haven't done an Innova and just put out an okay test to earn a few quid as the longer term impact would be way more than lost COvid revenue.
Remember, Covid is an unknown entity and could just die out tomorrow (not likely but hypothetically). Cancer is better understood and going nowhere - impacting 1 in 2 people in their lifetime! Add to that, the exact reason they want to protect the integrity of the Affimer platform, so it can be multi functional. "Affimers are for life, not just for Covid" I think AS has on his office wall.
