One could think it a good idea for MKS to be positioned at retail 'thought leaders' or, on the other hand, it could be seen as providing hostages to fortune. I wonder if the slightly negative tone might turn people off the sector

I must stress again that I am a long term holder so our interests are not aligned. I don't like the SP bouncing around. To me, it's a sign that there are too many retail investors just trading the stock. The SP had a good run up in anticipation of rate cuts and, of course, the good stats from Kantar. I have far too large a holding and at the Finals I will take some profits so I can rebalance. I bought back in May and hope to have made a reasonable return maybe 35%. If I only make 20% I will be equally happy. I agree, it a great company and I will invest for 3 year window. I will only be selling because I should spread my risk. Everyone has a different driver. You are clearly a smart trader: I am not

I am happy with SP as is. A good base to build on as we move thru to Spring and FYR. No one can guess, but I suspect there will be a slight overshoot of forecasts. These SP gyrations are not good for any company apart from our trader friends. We will probably see 390 towards May unless we find the company nudging analysts down a bit.

My gut feeling is that most on this site are not traders in the stock. Most seem to have a deep seated loyalty to the company. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your buying and selling but people here seem to be long term holders and don't want to either trade for emotional reasons or fear of making an error. I have(against the very wise advice of cleverer investors than me!) a vastly overweight position in MKS. If I traded I could make a lot of money or lose a lot. I am taking a 4 yr view though I will probably to get a better balance

Probably overbought unhelped by NIC and Stuart's quite overcautious stance. All well depend on the FYR. If there are no shocks then that should prove a positive. I don't imagine much will happen until we get closer to May. as we run towards May the co will doubtless want to give analysts a bit of a discreet steer. Has anyone thoughts on the Kantar stats?

This site has the SP closing at 340.84 whereas the LSE has it as 355. Who is right? I suspect the LSE!

Thanks JimJam. You are right. Not sure what possessed me! I am going to take a good look and heed your advice and others. Thinking back to RBS and Fred Goodwin....it says all that is wrong with this country that he escaped with a vast pension. Also that none of the NED's had control of him
