Share price will start the day at 64.80 due to dividend impact. Given there will probably be more sellers than buyers it will probably finish even lower than this. Anything around the 64.80 will be a result but I somehow doubt it. Given all factors it will probably finish 63 something. Lets see.
Tom
have I missed something? you have mentioned interim results on Thursday (twice), yet Thursday is the interim ex dividend date. Not expecting any statement or update (just the -2.52% on share price equating to dividend). have I got this wrong or misinterpreted your comments?
Well Tom, still waiting for the signs that your prediction of 75p. will be realised linked to your inside(not) information. I am presuming when you made this announcement you also took into account the automatic 2.52% drop to coincide with ex dividend date on the 19th October. There will be no resignations, no meetings in the pub, no significant impact from the Scoffield scandal. What there will be is a lack lustre share price until the economy picks up or something unforeseen occurs. None of these are predictions just common sense.
W'tom
if you had sources and you are sticking to >=75 then this means you are aware of positive (although price limiting info). If so this would only originate from inside sources. I doubt this so I will stick to the finger in the air likelihood. I love your assessment of price picking up. I presume this can only be based on one day (today) with most indices going the in right direction. It would be better if instead of you making assured statements (in the hope one might come true one day) why not just stick to aspirational and hopeful targets that match your level of insight. Finally, 75p by end of October I would welcome that. Lets see.
With regard to advertising all previous points are valid. However the world is changing and becoming saturated with advertising via social media and hundreds of other platforms that previously did not advertise, therefore less revenue. The question is what does ITV do to stay ahead of the game? its good that the emphasis (and profits) has shifted somewhat into studio productions but is this enough in a changing world where even the impact of A.I has not yet been felt or even considered in this sector. Like a lot of posters I have a concern regarding the strategic direction of ITV and if enough is being done. This week I read an article about NEXT and how it has managed to continue to be successful in a competitive market. The one thing that struck me was the language of the board and chairperson who said one of the secrets is keeping ahead of the game, looking for risks and being ahead of the curved ball. Completely different sector I know, but that language and analysis is what ITV needs. if it does not then it will languish and suffer further falls as we have seen this week in other media related companies. I am also coming to the conclusion that because of all the factors I have mentioned (perhaps) no matter what ITV does and other similar companies the challenges are too great for sustainable growth.(barring those who are exceptional) I hope I am wrong
Pantherpat
how you are right and that tomorrow is a positive day, always nervy the day before looking for indications but of course there are none. Hopefully todays measured drop means nothing. Soon know.
Hi Thedector
No chance of a divi or special. Announcement made is clear that 2 criteria have to be met. The first can be met by the sale, the second is longer term but if everything goes well perhaps at the end of the financial year.
Contrarian123
"Janus with respect you are wrong"
Contrarian123 - I don't necessary disagree with anything you have said. Perhaps I have not been clear. The widely held view about the CEO is not one I disagree with my issue is the level of continuous vitriol that simply goes on and on. The point about the woke crowd is I believe symptomatic of frustration that many people feel in a wider sense but one where the wheels are turning and nothing will stop it. This is not exclusive to ITV but relevant to all organisations. All I want is moderate and informative posts relevant (whether good or bad) on ITV. The current drum that is being banged has simply become white noise where only those we are listening are those within this forum. Time to move on and let whatever happens, happen.
I suspect the intensity, level of scrutiny and toxicity is far more strongly expressed here than in the real world, the ITV boardroom, the select committee meetings or various enquiries and investigations outcomes. The drivers (financial institutions) are only interested in strategic direction and positive outcome. If anyone here(humph Tom and pseudos) thinks anyone outside of this microsociety takes a blind bit of notice of what's said especially regarding the constant calls for her dismissal are simply deluded. The art of tautology is not lost on many of you maybe it's time to return to relevance and not vitriol. I suspect deaf ears will shortly come to mind.
Dear all
There appears to e a presumption from my post that I am defending the CEO. Please see my previous post and you can see exactly what my feelings are mainly with regard to strategic direction. However like everyone we don't really know all the factors that are impacting on the share price and therefore her true worth, but no one can deny that the potential impact a dynamic CEO would/could/should have in making a positive difference. Irrespective Jedclampits final sentence is one I would hold onto.
Everyone, I have to tell you that Tom has to be right as his predictions hit both ends of the scale at all times so which ever way the wind blows he can say I told you so. He is adept at picking up information (that is available to all) with a probability that any outcome will match a logical endgame that he has related to. Last week he predicted doom and gloom due to the Chinese property market (still might happen), but he picked an optimal moment that maximised the chances of a correct prediction. He was wrong again. If you look at his past posts he has predicted anything up to £2.00 down to 50p. So what ever happens he wins. Now the good thing about Tom and his cycle behaviour is that his boasts get bigger, his put downs become more personal and his behaviour results in him getting banned again only to reappear as another Tom from another obscure town. happy to say he is getting closer to the end game. However until he does why don't you all take my advice and stop letting him bait you, he is doing it successfully and some you are looking pretty sad. He revels in it. For those who have seen my previous posts I have said why he hates"the dame",and yes he will never get his money back( easyJet). So just be content in that, stop letting him distract you all from sensible and relevant posts. You are giving him a platform that he loves that is a direct opposite to the sad life he leads.
Swingman . No one could say she is doing a good job, she is one of the highest earners for a company of this size and what has she produced? nothing of any substance that has had a positive impact on the share price. Now that is not me bashing her but a simple fact. For a real example of strategic thinking and savvy just look at Marks And Spencer not only have they turned a corner but they made a surprise (and I suspect strategically)updated statement at a crucial time that has ensured their promotion back to the FTSE100. Clearly ITV is a different sector and like many there are significant challenges with a demographic audience that is changing in age and habits, but once again what has she to show for her time apart from a falling share price. ITVX is good but it's factored in, studio production is improving and helping to offset falling advertising revenue but that too is factored into the price. So what is the direction she is heading towards that will make ITV stand out and be viewed positively by the city? I have no idea but guess what neither does she. And before anyone accuses me of being a ramper(what ever that means) or a basher just look at my previous posts where I have continuously and sincerely wished the best for ITV, as I do now. But like many I want change, I want positive movement, I just want something that provides clarity on where we are going.
Can I also ask everyone to just respect each others posts whether we agree with them or not. There is a real edginess to recent posts where they are becoming personal without need. Clearly there is an agitator who for 99% of the time should be ignored but occasionally, just occasionally a point of consideration is made. Rant over. Thank you.
WILLIAM22"Just got back from business trip in France" bla bla bla
before any poster gets excited just have a look at his previous posts and then ask yourself is it William22 or Just William, the latter me thinks. Just stick to children's stories.
Interesting article in the mirror that is well worth a read about the possible exit strategy of the CEO linked to All3Media's. Others will do the analysis but uncertainties will prevail leaving a share price to languish unless the City views her ambitions as realistic and affordable. I really hope for the latter, investors are due some sustainable momentum.
