Assuming no hedging, it's not as if the current price of gold matters much - it's about the average price over a few years. That's why the gold price gains don't immediately show up in share prices.

The risk to the bondholders is not default, it's inflation. Higher interest rates reflect the higher inflationary risks. If ppl thought the Fed had inflation under control, the long end would be falling. It's not
