They can control costs, and how much they extract from the ground. That's why they only give forecasts for these, and not also revenue

I think investing in only one junior gold miner is insane if you think gold is going up... If that's the angle - a leveraged gold play - you need to invest in a few different miners! Diversification helps.

The gold price only matters if they can deliver the ounces. And if they actually deliver the ounces, the gold price doesn't matter all that much (within range).
