From 10p, that takes us to 33.5p.

I suspect the market is unwilling to assume the price of gold will clear and stay above 2000... It'll take some time above 2000, and probably breaching 2100, for the market to clock that gold is higher for longer.

Yes, I know HUM has fallen over 5 years. Timing is important.

I invested in JLP many years ago at about 3p, sold for about 5p, bought more at 13p, watched it go to 20 and back down to 10 and got out after being woken up to reality by Bushy (thanks).

All I know is bushy predicted this drop from about 17p, and as I watched it fall I became increasingly interested in what he had to say. It beggars belief that people are so stubborn that they can't just admit when they're wrong to save themselves money.

At some point this will become good value again, I'm just glad I missed the rest of the carnage.

Is HUM's high level of debt risky? Yes, of course it is. Nobody is denying it.

But we're also not overlooking the potential for very high returns... Gold, unlike PGMs, is close to an all time high and showing little signs of falling, especially as we hit peak rates and approach easier monetary policy. These ATHs for gold coincide with HUM becoming a 200k ounce pa producer.

Please go look up the endowment effect and stop falling in love with your shares. Why are you digging your heels in when it's clear for all to see that Bushy was right. It's baffling, honestly. If it's because you are over-invested here and can't stomach the truth, learn the lesson of not over-exposing yourself. And also learn the lesson of listening to dissenting voices who can save you lots of your hard-earned!!

The difference is that one has halved this year and the other has doubled. End of story.

The reason they're not denting their debt is because nominal gdp is not going up fast enough. That's the whole point of "inflating the debt away". You print money, nominal gdp ie inflation goes up, tax revenues increase, and the debt can be repaid.

It's all about shrinking the size of debt relative to GDP. The debt is fixed nominally, so you just inflate nominal gdp.

They have absolutely no choice but to inflate their debt away. When you have too much debt, you default, either nominally or in real terms. Most monetary powers will opt to default in real terms. Negative real rates for a prolonged period, cash and bondholders get rekt, the losses become spread across all holders of the currency.

I'd say this is guaranteed, which is why I'm investing in gold.

The whole sector is priced as if gold prices won't stay at these levels imo. I guess they can't set the price of the product they sell! So there's always the risk that profits are much lower than anticipated.
