Anyone noticed the number of buybacks last week? Have only recently invested here and managed to 'steal' a few more the other afternoon at 2925 or thereabouts,the clincher for me apart from the yield is the buybacks which is a bit like the opposite of dilution I guess,I have other blue chips that do it but last week seemed an accelerated process,anyone know the history here? Also any guesses for the div amount in sterling,I'm thinking about 110p?

Good to read some positive thread on these for a change!! The interim was paid last week but haven't seen the credit slip yet,I have got the payment date right?

Well mate,in my humble opinion they are a six quid share and they have become my biggest holding and having made the progression from investor to gambler/investor and now back to investor with just a few gambles in the last couple of years,I think the over-riding benefit is still weighted towards income rather than growth but as a defensive with the yield it's got,I really have no complaints!!! My old man has always been a big fan of these and I reckon it's been passed on!! As a defensive yielder,there's never really been much to say about them but clearly at this price it's a buy to hold and in my case top up.....the future who knows but I'm kind of hopeing the SP stays sub-550 for a few more weeks for purely selfish reasons as my pension thing will take a few more weeks to sort out! Some people I know think these should be seven or eight quid a share but since it's primarily an income share for me,the paper profit is kind of academic,if that makes sense?! The eight percent yield growth for the next couple of years hasn't been lost on me either,have plenty of others some a bit higher on the yield but this is the one I feel safest with!!

Cheers for confirmation on the dates etc,had an average holding when they did the RI,bought the cheapies but when the SP got walloped i topped up big time under a fiver and have been adding since. Not going for scrip ones yet as need the income but am in the process of sorting my pensions into a sipp wrapper so will be looking to do scrip divs when i buy a chunk then,as you say,a good way of increasing the shares with minimal costs!!!

I,m not sure mate,but have a feeling it,s august/september payday,check on the webbie under dividend/investors,the interim of 12.9p is payable on the 19th though

Just checked on the website and it's 553.1,which would indicate anyone taking the shares rather than cash would be better off taking the cash and buying the shares!!!

My thanks to the rbs downgrade for giving me yet another opportunity to buy more cheap grids,it's almost as good as when the SP got hammered during the RI,got to wait a while for the final but the extras I've managed to grab today at just under 525 will be noticeable when the cheque comes through. I think the interim payment comes through next week sometime. I'd rather it doesn't drift any lower for the time being mind you,keep thinking I've got enough,equally there is a thought that we are currently well below the scrip price so if not taking the cash,there's an arguement for buying with next weeks cash credit......anyway,one of the best income plays around and a screaming top up at these levels!

Been after these for a while for my hold/yield account,worked out my entry as 29.50 give or take and by my calculations this level gets me to the magic 5% yield,so I'm in but not really playing it,just income/growth,whether the current price sticks for a bit I'm not overly concerned as it's a longtermer.

Well let's hope Boris likes the idea of letting them go ahead on this iconic London landmark,surely a takeover target or jv potential with one of the big boys if they get the go ahead!!!! I did notice the higher volume too but what I'm unclear about is that raft of 'price monitoring extensions' for the closing auctions,it's not like it's traded to that extent? Or is something brewing,time will tell,good luck if you have a go mate!!
