If NC are looking to take GGP they will strike IMO as early and as fairly as possible. I am sure a cat and mouse game is being played in the background as big companies will always want as much as they can get for as little they have to pay for. Hell, they have a duty to their shareholders.
Scally was out of bounds to them as is our joker card ( if we strike if and before NC start to circle for a bid).
If they do it is more likely to be just after they have completed their 65,000 mtr drilling to grow the resource.
That is the fair bit as mentioned above.
Yes, the resource very likely would continue to grow over many years but that would just about count as naff all, other than an additional premium included in the offer.
I reckon GGP recognise the potential timing of any forthcoming bid ( that was what our new CEO s company specialised in, taking out near to production junior miners, so knows how and when the bigger fish feed). He is a finance guy, not a exploration man.
If SW results are promising would make NC think very seriously about a full bid as quickly as possible. They pay a premium certainly but get a bargain all the same as GGP would not get any more if simply selling to another buyer.
Newcrest know the majority of shares are held by PIs so come middle of the year when resource has been increased and some SW results amongst others are known, I would expect NC to at least be thinking of testing GGP shareholders with a fair offer. One they would be confident that would be accepted, as they do not want rejected as that would prevent them making another for 1 year.
