Oil price is holding up well this morning, so hopefully another happy day just as long as all the day traders don't run off with their saddlebags full of our hard earned after market closes.
Russia obviously don't want a price cap on its oil, Biden warning EU not to set the cap too low, EU cand decide what day it is. Is it any wonder there is volatility in the commodity. Have a great day everyone. And Meoryou, glad the day went well

Yes interesting things happening over next few days, did they ever reach agreement on the oil price cap for seaborne cargoes? Opec will not want to give their oil away cheaply, my guess is they will want to see parameters of $90-$100 and that would suit nicely thank you.

Cong/Meoryou, remember do your homework, so many horror stories with builders. Check their work, take references, get everything in writing, never pay upfront. having said all that there are undoubtedly some great professional builders out there just getting hold of them is a lottery

Not wishing to prolong the discussion on wood burners but I was most surprised to read your post. Can I ask if you had a stainless steel flue liner installed. Also for benefit of anyone who doesn't already know, always use seasoned timber, at least 3 years barn dried, and have the flue cleaned professionally every year which shouldn't cost more than £60/70

Hi Meoryou, I make no claim to having any great knowledge of burners. We have a multifuel (wood or coal) Charlwood C7. It is a very good piece of kit and very well constructed, without welded joints. The only thing I would've done differently if fitting today is I would probably choose a double door unit but basically I'm more than happy with the C7.

Meoryou, very amusing, although, I spent about £600 every winter on kiln dried logs and smokeless coal. It is a fallback incase we have a power cut but thankfully these are few and far between. You can always come round and Mrs J will put your soup on the burner lol.

The national grid has not been tested this winter as we've enjoyed one of the mildest November's that I can immediately recall , as we move towards ev's there will be more and more demand on the system as a whole and I very much doubt if it could cope, particularly in the event of another 'beast from the east' there's going to be a need for massive investment in the system to cope with the ever increasing demand. I'm not a convert to ev's yet because there is insufficient infrastructure insitu to service the demand, coupled with the relatively poor performance of battery power. If the oil taps were shut down today god aline knows how humanity would survive,cwe would all revert to become hunter gatherers, which might be what the planet needs.

Opec will be our friend. Its not in their interest to see oil under $90, above all they will want stability I also see that russia has purchased a large fleet of old tankers to move their oil to friendly countries and circumvent the embargo on tanker insurance. We certainly are entering unknown territory, and as yet we havnt seen consensus within european union on the maximum price they will allow for Russian crude. It would seem to me that russia plan to ignore Europe and use these old ships to move their oil without insurance cover arranged in uk or eu. The price cap is expected to be effective from 5th Dec.
It will be interesting to see what opec's take on the matter will be on 4th.

I can fully understand investors who sold out at the top end now wanting the price to drop to enable them to get back in at the earliest moment. That tells me the actually are uncomfortable having divested and worried the will miss the bus. Best of luck to all holders
