Leandra is now underway at 4knots retracing her drift, she will most likely return to not under command when she reaches the area that she last stopped.

It might surprise you more that there are no tugs in attendance, there would be many in the circumstances you have given.

She is just that, not under command, awaiting berthing orders, there are no other entries under AIS for a vessel other than anchored or underway. It’s an indicator to other vessel making passage nearby that her current trajectory isn’t going to change. Daylight signal of 2 balls hanging from the mast.

3 balls hanging would mean a ship is aground, which is where the term “balls up” stems from.

And talking of balls ups, we should be seeing pics from the various trials and fuel plants shortly if we are to meet any deadlines, 3 weeks will see Leandra back in Europe.

Our CTO, Jason Miles, was recently featured in Manifold Times, discussing how Quadrise’s MSAR ® and bioMSAR™ water-based emulsion fuels can be a practical, cost-effective, and low-carbon solution to help meet the IMO’s net zero targets. 

 

Following MEPC 83, the shipping industry must adapt to a new net zero framework. This framework is set to introduce mandatory marine fuel standards and greenhouse gas emissions pricing, aiming for a 20 - 30% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 and a 70 - 80% reduction by 2040. 

 

With the development of certain alternative fuels viability continuing to face significant challenges, Quadrise’s emulsion technology can act as a bridging fuel to support compliance, enabling shipowners to reduce emissions and fuel costs now, without waiting years for new fuels.  

 

Jason explains, “At Quadrise, we see the potential of emulsion technology in supporting affordable compliance with modern environmental standards, without prohibitive cost or operating disruptions.”

We have MSC Bremerhaven in Antwerp on the 25th June and the MSC Leandra on the 27th, sister ships and bought from Maersk at the same time, interesting watching if nothing else transpires l.

The IMO’s focus on well-to-wake means that LNG will now receive a partial Tier 1 penalty by 2030 and fall into Tier 2 non-compliance by 2032. This is as a direct result of technology’s ‘methane slip’ issue, which refers to the release of unburned methane emissions into the atmosphere from LNG powered engines. Also, certain biofuel blends, such as B24, will now fall into the Tier 1 penalty band by 2030 and Tier 2 by 2033.

MSC Bremerhaven V ( sister ship to Leandra V ) is in Antwerp on the 6th June, she is joining Leandra on the neusec 2 schedule, her next arrival in Antwerp after June 6th will be 25th July.

The MSC Pilar is also joining the neusec 2 schedule, same size as Leandra but runs the Mann engine, just a coincidence?

Trio updated yesterday their intent to acquire 2000 acres at asphalt ridge, this should yell us how the testing of samples has gone, as expected.

Our CEO, Jason Miles, will be presenting at the ‘Maximising fleet profitability with decarbonisation’ event in Piraeus, on Thursday 22nd May at 5:30 pm EEST, hosted by Auramarine Ltd. 

 

Jason will join John Bergman, CEO of Auramarine, to present innovative MSAR® and bioMSAR™ emulsion fuel technologies from Quadrise.  These offer immediate reductions in operating costs and emissions compared to HFO and B30, benefiting the environment and ensuring ongoing compliance.  

Friday 27th she is due back at Antwerp, Q2 still a possibility.

The guy who Jason is commenting to, on the Linkedin post is the Joint CEO of Seascale Energy, he is the Vice President, head of Bunkers for Hafnia, he also sits on the board of Auramarine, our go to fuel system provider, its a shame he's busy, there is a position coming up at Quadrise that he would be a good fit for.

Leandra's arrival at Antwerp is now 0200 on Sunday, departure 1800 Monday, the duration of her visit has been extended from 28 hours to 40 hours.

Leandra’s departure from Antwerp has gone out to Monday 19th at 10am.
