The difference in figures (and i'd imagine payback) are huge. When the $40 million (including a 10% contingency) for construction was mentioned, and the 18 month (i think) payback, it seemed like a done deal. Purely because of the economics. Oh well. I'll come back next year.

Now that above statement could have been right out of Thompsons vision for RMG future. It was only a couple of months ago that he said that the majority of delivery offices were not fit for purpose to handle the growth in larger parcels. If you look at my office, you would agree. And i do too. I cannot speak for other offices though.
Fewer offices? Happening already.
And as for bikes coming back: Thomspon also said that revisiting previous ways of working may have to be looked at. As a postie yourself, with the decline of letters, surely it is quicker to deliver letters and small parcels by bike.

The earliest RMG workers can legally go on strike is mid-August, if the ballot allows. There is no way that the CWU will give RMG any reason to sack any postie because of unlawful IA.

Seems like i missed all the fun today.
Absolutely nothing regarding the managers deal. I do believe that all management IA will be called off. For now, at least.
I've mentioned the CWU vote turnout before. I'm hoping that it will be significantly higher than the last vote.
While this is pay related only, it will give a sounding board for the real dispute.
In other news: The red weather warning alert has been sounded for Monday and Tuesday. If this holds up there will be very limited deliveries on either of those days. At least our leader has posted something from his car. Thanks Si.

That well worn statement. I've probably used it once or twice myself, but it's not entirely true though. Maybe if the office was either fully staffed or there was minimal overtime. But it ain't like that in my office.
The proof is in the pudding. We shall see next week.

We have absence o/t and S/A. That's the earlies i mentioned.
That's how it was meant to work in my office but the level of vacancies, loans, long term sick and light duty staff, means we are crippled before we even start.
Failing daily and it gets even more grim as each day passes.
