Bear in mind, that this is a joint statement, and was printed out for everyone by my manager.
Do you think that RMG are trying to save money by not paying non union staff?
Would they sink that low? Or has it just been very badly worded?
There is a LBT that relates to this, but as it's only a CWU based statement, I thought i'd post the joint one.

The joint statement put out by RMG and the CWU is slightly ambiguous.
The wording is that the bonus will be paid to all "CWU represented colleagues".
Am I reading too much into this?
The wording suggests that it is for union members only.
Any thoughts RMG employees?

With all this virus thing that's been going on, I nearly forgot about my 2 weeks allotted sick leave.
Rest assured, i'll be slotting these weeks in where I can. Obviously working around my 8 weeks annual leave. 2 weeks carried over from last year.
I'm thinking maybe early/mid December. I don't want to work too hard, do I?
I definitely won't be going sick over any bank holidays. A bit counter-productive in my opinion.

Yes. Volumes are up, massively. 70% compared to last year in my office.
But I dont think that's the whole story. I believe it's backlog.
I could be wrong.

As I've said before, incoming volumes to delivery offices may not be all it seems. My opinion only.

I totally agree with the increased volumes. But as I stipulated before, it is not visual. They are small items.
In line with the increased recent volumes, do you or anybody else have volumes for pre-covid days, lets say mid Feb to mid March, in comparison with last year?

A gentle fizz might be more appropriate. Stop the traders from entering and it would allow a steady reduction of any historical placing shares being sold into the rise. At ever increasing prices.

Why on earth would RMG pay a bonus to anyone other than their hard working managers?

I'll go further.
In my area there is little or no pressure overtime (going over your time), or absence overtime (covering sick etc).
Apart from the chosen few of course.

The order of the day is that if it cannot be done within your scheduled hours, bring it back. Or in the case of 4-5 duties per day, don't even bother. Deliver as many parcels and to hell with the rest.
Now i'm old school. The 1st and 2nd class delivery service has been paid for. I think it's absolutely disgusting that RMG managers can dictate what should or should not be delivered on any given day.
Again, i'll take this further. There are plenty of willing overtime volunteers, but very few are given the time.

So back to the bonus.
It's possible that RMG are conserving money (at the expense of the service we provide to our customers), to actually pay a bonus to the hard working front line staff. Militants, union members and sickos excluded of course.

Apparently parcel traffic is "through the roof". Well, I thought there was a big increase, but nowhere near what some were saying.
While I stand by the visual aspect of my statement, traffic has indeed increased.
Traffic from week 5 this year, compared to week 5 last year has increased by 70% in my office.
In comparison to week 36, mid Christmas, volumes are lower by about 8%.
How much is due to the backlog or people ordering more online, is anybodys guess.

A preference exercise was carried out in my office.
The outcome was that nothing will change. Despite some, mainly spares, opting for it.
On Saturday some staff finished quite early. Allowed to go home too. There were still parcels in the office that should've been delivered that day.
You can see where this is going.
The worst thing is, some people loved it!!!
