Cyber security is undoubtedly a massive growth area. There have been a number of high profile incidents and issues recently. I could see Darktrace achieving higher growth rates than previously predicted.

The log4j issue is the biggest software vunerability for years. It is everywhere and it is not always easy to identify where it is installed. There will be a lot of companies reviewing their cyber protection after this.

I keep reading about how xyz will affect the share price. Ultimately the long term share price will be determined on how the company performs. I personally think the current share price seriously underestimates the long term potential of Darktrace. IMHO the cyber warfare is only going to get worse and there is already a severe shortage of skilled staff to deal with them. A perfect opportunity for Darktrace. I will be buying more and tucking away for several years.

A fall to 100p would value Darktrace at approximately £700 million while Sentinel with similar sales and growth rates has a market cap of closer to £10 billion. Nothing has changed recently in the fundamental s of Darktrace recently. I am surprised you ever bought into Darktrace at at all if you ever thought 100p was a realistic target.

The disparity in valuations looks on a like for like basis looks more and more ridiculous by the day. The obvious thing holding the Darktrace share price back is the ML case. If we can get that out the way a move back towards £10 and above should be a realistic target.

Wiscos. That makes no sense. Do you not understand that Darktrace are buying back some of their own shares?

Would probably be better if they did the MBA course about when Amazon dropped 90%. What a terrible company that turned out to be.

Good find and a high profile bit of business. Seems strange for them to choose Darktrace when the product is only a gimmick.

Clairemith. What has fundamental has changed in the last week to make you change your view. The ML issue has been going on for months. I reckon you are just plucking figures out of thin air with your predictions.

Bocacaca. I don't think anyone is suggesting a takeover will happen in the short term but I suspect it is highly likely in the future.

Steviewonder77 - Totally agree that the UK needs more tech firms. I suspect we will see more and more UK tech firms listing in the US due to the difference in valuations. The UK stock market doesn't really seem to understand/like tech in general.

I fully expect Darktrace to be bought at some stage. Might be a few years away but I believe it will happen if the company progresses and takes market share. If Darktrace were listed on the Nasdaq they would trade at multiple times the current value. This makes them a bargain for any US firm looking to make an aqusition.

Dubious. 18 months ago the Crowdstrike share price was 39. Today is closed at 230. I think falling to earth is overstating it a bit.

Stockready. I would be interested to see your simple maths and fundamental analysis that allows you to come up with a price of 460. Any chance you could share it?

Thanks for posting Neilh99 but just the usual tosh from Motley Fool. From the author "My quibbles about Darktrace have not changed much. The company is still running operating losses". Why even bother doing a review of Darktrace if that is his concern. The concern about marketing expenses makes no sense either. How else do Darktrace promote their product. These should naturally tail off as a percentage as the company matures. His comparison between Avast and Darktrace show a complete lack of knowledge about what the products do and the markets they address.

bobocaca. I never mentioned Darktrace in my post about Peel Hunt. The post was merely to highlight the dangers of anyone following analysts ratings blindly.

"are broker ratings really worth anything?". Interesting to look at Peel Hunt previous recommendations. It would appear not. A couple of examples. Recommended Purple Bricks in July @ £0.85 now £0.33 and Asos @ 4679 now 2877.

Oculusprime. You have been posting here for weeks and almost without exception every post from you is negative. It's fair enough if you don't rate darktrace. There are plenty of companies that I don't rate. What I don't do is post constantly on their message boards that the share price could go down. Why do you feel the need to do that here? ??

It feels to me that the board have shown a level of contempt for PI's and are now asking us to vote for them. I accept we may have to vote for them to stop BHP getting it on the cheap. That doesn't mean I am happy with it or support their vision. It is time for a new way forward which delivers shareholder value and if that means putting the for sale sign up so be it. I have seen nothing to date that suggests they are capable of taking this to production.

Of course the comparison between Darktrace and US peers is valid. The likelihood of a bid increases if Darktrace trades at a significant discount.
