Got to agree with oil here. I think we have seen today and over the last few months the impact a shorter can have. I think there are other factors at play in the share price fall and specifically the ML extradition case and they have played on this. Until the UK takes some action it is going to be very easy for someone to spread some missinformation and indeed downright lies which impact a companies share price. As stated earlier today I personally believe there by has been a concert party here consisting of Shadowfall/Peel Hunt and their placement in the press. I know Darktrace have said they don't want to complain to the regulator but I would rather they did. Many of the claims made by Peel Hunt are unsubstantiated and close to downright lies. They should be challenged on this by the regulator. It might at least think twice in the future.

Down 7% based on unsubstantiated newspaper article at the weekend. No wonder UK tech firms don't want to list over here. Feels like Shadow fall/Peel Hunt and certain journalists have acted as a concert party in bringing the Darktrace share price down. Shows how easily the UK market can be manipulated.

Using Glassdoor reviews as a basis for investment is ridiculous. I have just been able to submit a review of a company I never worked for. I have now deleted it. How can information on there possibly be trustworthy.

It is the proverbial stick, carrot and donkey with Solg. The PFS is coming. It's been delayed. It's coming. Delayed again. Set another wooly date then delay again. How long does this go on for? Sorry if I sound frustrated but that's because I am. Maybe it's about time the company actually started giving the shareholders something other than excuses. The communication has been nothing short of appalling and the AGM was an embarrassment. I know the usual suspects will attack me for this post. They will say it is going to production. What evidence do you actually have other than a blind faith in a company that doesn't appear to be able to deliver on any deadlines? The sooner a bid comes in the better as far as I am concerned.

Interesting that the Telegraph also had to give the Peel Hunt opinion of Darktrace as a footnote when publishing the trading update.

I think you are correct Ndn71. A nice dip of the back of this being published to allow them to close out their short position. Guess there will be a few ££'s in it for any journalist willing to run the story.

Thanks for posting bobocaca. Interesting read. It does raise the following question. If the Darktrace product is so bad why are existing customers buying additional Darktrace products. Peel Hunt definitely springs to mind with me as well.

Not a fan of Deliveroo but I agree with the sentiment of that article. Tech stocks make up barely 2% of the UK Compared to 20% accross indexes worldwide. That doesn't bode well for the UK market going forward.
My guess is that the only reason Darktrace didn't float in the US is the ML issue. If any of the FANG companies had started in the UK they wouldn't be where they are now. They wouldn't have gotten the investment required to survive the growth period. Tech companies generally lose money for a good period of time before becoming profitable.
I have seen analysts reviews that cite the fact that Darktrace are loss making as a reason not to buy them. That makes no sense and could have been applied to Tesla/Amazon as well as many others during their growth phase. Indeed still applies to companies like Cloudflare & zscaler etc. The difference is that the US is able to take a long term view whereas the UK is obsessed with today. Any UK tech company would be crazy to list over here if the US is an option.

Add to that the WFH model which many companies have been forced to adopt. Those computers at home are no longer sitting behind the corporate firewalls. Endpoint protection of these devices is a massive opportunity.

Probably because this is a Darktrace message board. If you want to discuss any of those companies it might be worth trying the message boards for those companies.

Peel Hunt took a more cautious tone, pointing out that churn of 6.9% may not stay that low. ‘We note that churn rates will appear lower during periods of higher growth due to customer contract lock-in dynamics, typically on three-year contracts.’
I take Peel Hunt are just going to ignore the fact that existing customers are actually expanding the number of Darktrace products they are using. They would hardly be doing that if they were desperate to leave as soon as the contract was up.

Darktrace are growing quickly and the customer acquisition costs will be higher. The Darktrace margins are high and the profits will come. They never predicted to be making money at this stage.

Kick. I totally agree. If Darktrace can continue to execute well they should be a solid long term buy.

Kick. I have no problem with Peel Hunt having different opinion on the valuation from other brokers. It is a different story when they start quoting unamed "experts" suggesting that the Darktrace product is nothing but a gimmick. That is quite clearly released to create fear amongst investors.

Today's update shows how ridiculous the Peel Hunt Broker note was. They stated that the product was just a gimmick. Darktrace would not be achieving the current growth rates & customer retentions if that was the case. It was clearly released to created FUD and by all account is succeeded. Market manipulation at its best.

I would love to see some organised short squeezes against these vultures. They spread missinformation and lies to support their positions using their friends in the press.

That's an interesting prediction. £20.00 or bust. Let's hope it's the former.

The UK market doesn't have a clue when it comes to technology. If Darktrace were listed on the Nasdaq we would have a $10 billion+ valuation. Any successful UK tech firm won't be British for long as they will be taken over. The UK economy will pay the price for the markets inability to see by making profits in 6 months time.

Bladerunner. If you are going to rubbish darktrace post something specific to the company rather than some generic garbage.
