I don't believe using the share price prior to the potential bid announcement is necessarily valid. The share price has been beaten up by short attacks and downright lies being spread so is artificially low in my opinion. The fact that the UK can't value tech properly is the real problem here. The US vultures are going to buy up all our tech companies on the cheap until the UK stops taking such a short term viewpoint. Figures of £6.50 don't appeal to me personally as I believe the share price will be substantially higher in a few years. Would be more than happy to see a bid a that level rejected by the board. If TB walk away so what. Big difference between how traders and investors view this situation.

A little tree Shake from the market makers this morning. Would imagine they will try again a few times. Be careful of setting stop losses too tight or you might get caught out.

20% would be an absolute steal. They could buy Darktrace at that price then relist on the Nasdaq easily doubling their money.

100% agree regarding Darktrace and the London Stock Exchange. I hope it is a warning to any UK tech firms looking to float. London doesn't deserve their business. If Darktrace continue to develop the business as they are doing the market will eventually have to value them correctly. Just look at the low share price just now as an opportunity.

All the made up stories from Jeffries/Shadowfall to the drive the share price down. Now we get a bid approach when the share price is 60% off the highs. The UK market is manipulated to hell. Would be happy to hold long term as I don't think £15/£20 is unrealistic long term.

It doesn't help when brokers like Peel Hunt along with shadowfall manipulate the market. Most of what was written in their report was at best poorly formed opinion and could be considered downright lies. It didn't stop the UK press publishing it as fact. The FCA are utterly toothless.

Why would think that people that invested in a company wouldn't be interested in a trading update? This is a Darktrace message board and therefore trading updates are exactly the type of thing I would expect to see being discussed. As a long term investor I am not necessarily interested in how it affects the share price in the short term but want to know the business is moving in the right direction.

The UT is an auction so buyers aren't trading directly with each other. It is entirely plausible that shorters use it to buy back shares in order to close their positions.

Motley Fool should be viewed as clickbait. I wouldn't buy or sell a share based on anything they publish.

It is strange how a few US banks and hedge funds have expressed negative opinions of UK firms that have later been bought out by American firms. Obviously just a coincidence.

Pearls, I completely agree that the shares are oversold. The share price has become completely disconnected from how the company is performing. The share price is only at these low levels due to market manipulation from hedge funds. Just a shame that London wants to try and trash one of the few leading technology companies it has. A lessonsn for others companies who are considering doing an IPO.

The market cap of Darktrace has fallen £300 million due to a bookbuild placing £80 million worth of shares. These are existing shares being placed. There is no dilutiion. It is makes no sense and shows the level of market manipulation that occurs in the UK. The best thing Darktrace could do is cancel the bookbuild. Why reward the hedge fund shorters with the opportunity to cover their positions in the placing.

The share price movement in the last day is the perfect example of why any UK tech company should list somewhere else rather than London.

Sheltie. In the long term the free float shouldn't make one not of difference. The company share price will move on performance and eventually profitability. On those fronts the company are doing well. There is nothing they can do about others manipulating the share price.

Sheltie , it isn't dilution. These are only existing shares not currently traceable entering the market. All that is changing is the free float. It was always going to happen after the lock in period expired.

The company release a good trading statement but also a placing of existing shares which are currently not traded. Those shares being place are worth approximately £80 million yet the share price fall today equates to a £270 million fall in the company valuation. Total manipulation.

Toff. I agree 100% with what you say. Any UK tech company should seriously consider listing abroad.
