Good news is that Motley Fool are saying the share price wont increase for the rest of the year so its bound to bounce up well tomorrow...

Shorted the stock this morning and made some gains, back in it again, this share is very volatile.... need a beer.....

@jamessab, BA & Iberia rely on long haul, the US & South America respectively. % increases on a low base don't count for much...small increases wont enhance profitability or sp. Delta variant is changing the state of play on this stock now....

@jamessab, looks good for low cost carriers if their flights are full, doesn't bode well for BA or LHR.....

Agree @sunsurfer, sp value is based on fact. Oct Q3 is still far away and until this comes, sentiment will rally. US still closed and other international borders are following suit, it doesn't paint a pretty picture. Variant needs to be controlled before sentiment changes.

Watching US cases and recovery is a sure sign in gauging on how this stock will perform. Looking at China and FTSE wont give you the same perspective.

Delta is the big issue here and not China...... The state of the US is intrinsically driving this share price down as recovery might take a lot longer than anticipated.

All airlines stocks are down except for 1 or 2 in the US. IAG are not the worst performing airline stock today. Afghanistan has hit the industry sp as has the end of summer and the delta variant. A lot of people wont buy into IAG yet due to this uncertainty but generally and IMO its a good reason to buy as others tend to buy in when its on its way up and when its too late.

D9Ber1 in my opinion business travel might not be as badly hit as people think. People are looking forward to getting away again for work. Nothing replaces face to face meetings, you cant develop a relationship with an important client while your at home at 8pm and they are in a rush to go for lunch with a colleague (NYC time zone). West coast time zones are even worse....

August 1st traffic is only 38% down on 2019 levels in Europe according to ACI. Not sure that bums on seats will be an issue, massive demand is there....

Stock moving up towards the weekend closure, is there some good news or sentiment coming over the weekend?

150 seems a bit further away if it is going up! Insect infestation was back in June, delayeed 3 flights taking off...

Big-blue, if i were you i would concentrate on how that switcheroo you were planning in is going and not the spelling of hoofs/hooves etc.....

I understood that the reason for the transfer was to capitalize on the immediate gap left by Thomas Cook in Manchester, using the planes that are grounded. It is definitely lower hanging fruit in the short term than building up capacity to above 2019 levels in ROI. I guess none of us know when 2019 capacity will come back and be exceeded but I do not think it will take up to 2024/25 in ROI. MHO DYOR.

Yes agree, its a tactic to capitalize on the US opening in the short term. Medium term it will return to ROI as there were a lot of strong connections through Ireland that need to be re-established as travel comes back.

Thanks sightwatcher (at least for now), I think Fugazi1 was on the fence waiting for a drop to 160, might have missed the boat....

Sentiment is starting to return, heathrow see ray of light, industry are upbeat and ratings increasing. Hopefully gathers a bit of momentum now.
