Good Evening All, "short" Ftse100 @ 6592 and Dow @ 16290. Markets correcting ?? or just "spooked" by world events ?? "long " AHT again and AV in run up to ex-divi. Watching HGG , SMDS , GKN and HSL closely for "long" entry .

GBLUNT ---Yes,In TW this am @ 122.0 waited for the drop and got in nicely---Got some more QPP @ 32.21 p and some more COMS @ 7.95 p . ITV looks good value now ( topped up) Still waiting for a drop in AHT to get in @ value .( may have missed it ? ). KENZ dropped on big contract news , think it was already in the price a bit , will wait a while !! FTSE100 and big brother the DOW (lol) still very undecided on direction .My "shorts will have to wait a while longer!------------------GLA.

Plagiator - Perhaps i could "chip " in as well , as i spreadbet a lot . FINSPREADS will let you trade a minimum of 50 p/ point , whereas IGINDEX and SREADCO etc will only give you that level for an introductoty period , then it's min. £1.00 /point . More volatile/risky shares with small market caps. or AIM listed may be as much as min. £5.00 or £10.00 / point . I use IGINDEX and FINSPREADS to give me good alround trading option .As GBLUNT says 1 point is 1 p on equities or 1 point is actually 1 point movement on the indexes( ie the DOW or FTSE100 etc ).If you open a "long " bet on say COMS at £5.00/ point you are for all intends and purposes " buying" 500 shares in COMS . If COMS sp goes up by 5 p you have made 5 x 500 = £25.00. If it goes down 5 p then you've lost £25.00 . --- 50 p/point "buys" you 50 shares , 1 p/point "buys" you 100 shares etc etc. --The "spread " will be larger or smaller on different shares so this has to be made up before you are in profit, just like buying shares thru' your Brocker . All Shares have a Margin Requirement depending on their "volitity" and other factors , and this margin is what your account must cover with a cash deposit ( simply stated) You must keep your account margin and your trading resource positive or all your positions will be "closed out" automatically ---some comps. will send you an e-mail or text , but not all!! Trade on a "DUMMY " platform first to get the hang of it and see if it's "your thing" or not ----Always set "limit orders"or "stop loss's " especially if your "shorting" ---------------------Sorry to prattle on , but i hope this will help ---GL .

JOE -- Yes, agreed on AV , staying in for now as long as 458/459 holds . FTSE100 could well reach around 7000 which only makes it 160 points higher than now . Not opened "shorts" yet but give it another 50-60 points and my first "small short" will be in . DOW looks to have a 100-200 or so yet to go before "shorts" ( i don't mind a small "running loss" especially once the indicies are showing "overbought" on their respective RSI ..) ---JMHO. GLA.

FP :---Thanks for the info , using MoneyAM , seem alright for my needs at the mom. Looking very closely now at the DOW and FTSE100 ---will start to build some "short" positions soon.Both got a "little " to go on the techs. but usually get in early "small" --FTSE100 at an interesting level and DOW still trying for 16200 again ? ---ATVB .

FarmerP ------Can you give me an alternative site i can see the Technicals of the Dow Jones on easily plotted !!!, I've tried ZIGNALS and that's a load of rubbish ---my usual sites don't give me the DOW chart and Barchart is rubbish as well.---- GL.

Hi FP----I'm in on IMG with a 171 average , room to manoevere at that ( looks reasonably good for a small punt )Been doing well on the DOW myself in the run up to test 16200 , pulling back today ----Took my profits in the miners , POG, HOC ( looking a bit overbought as a sector , but much more to come , most def. will be back in ) QPP and COMS , making everyone , inc, me a lot of money -----"momemtum stocks " both at the mom. ---Both in "overbought " territory but still flying high ? --------Small "long" in BLNX this am @ 106 p (not a buy tech. but enough for a small gamble?) ---GL.

Hi FarmerP---------Just wish i could bite my tongue , when people like that idiot on BLNX dis. TA & Charts. Does no good , i know to lose my "cool" ----Just makes me come across as an "idiot " as well (lol) -----What is it about TA that people find so "strange" ?? Farmerparmer--thanks for the post ----------Yep, i posted DOW /FTSE100 levels in a post on AV. on wed 23.38 hrs. Duly Tested them today and bounced for now ? ( DOW 15600 and FTSE100 6439) ---Nice to know i get it right sometimes ----went long the DOW DFT @ 15650 and FTSE100 DFT @ 6460 so quids in at the moment. ---GL.
