If there was no deal, whilst it would obviously be a painful day, I still think with the massive fall in wholesale energy prices inflation will continue to fall as it has been in the US well into next year.
I can foresee by the end of year the sp rising on it's own up to £1.50/£1.75 with the expectation of first FED pivot and interest rate cut by late autumn/early winter. By this point it's not like PE offers will be gone, however if the sp had got to £2 say then £3 offer would only be 50% premium on price.
Can obv see there being a lot more activity once golden share goes in Sept, Kelso stated they would be "very surprised" if there wasn't a lot in other potential bidders even now.
I still of course hope there is a deal now as it's quicker money but the way I see it, THG have a decent amount of cash and in-fact in the last few months were cash flow positive so a deal doesn't HAVE to happen, you just have to be able to stomach a short term fall in sp in this scenario.
