AMC is at 50 percent it's pre-covid high, we are at 20 percent our pre-covid high despite having less bad debt than AMC. We won't be locking down again vaccine or not, it's ecomimcally disasterous to do so and Sweden shows it may not even have been necassary...even Chris Whitty said the virus probably peaked before lockdown.

A number of studies have found that the UK public is more afraid of covid than any other country on earth. Could this be why cineworld is below 20% of it's pre-covid peak yet AMC is around 53%?

It's true that other leisure business' didn't necc rise when opening but it's slightly hard to tell because a lot of them opened at the beginning of July in a bear market.

Was scrolling instagram and saw an ad for tenet...hopefully the buzz around it will start to grow.

It seems strange, it's at odds with the worldometer data. Maybe they mean record as in record totals? The day to day changes aren't record changes, or even rising in some cases on worldometer.

Investroid, according to worldometer US cases are down from last week. Frence cases are up a bit (from pockets not previously in like Leicester and Oldham in UK) though went down yest, atm they are the same as the UK https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/france/
California and Florida's cases are still going down not up, maybe not down on yest but clearly showing a plateau. Texas went up a bit but 7 day average clearly showing plateau there deaths also lower than before. So not sure where your getting the "record" numbers from.

That cineworld is undervalued! But ofcourse I'm invested so I would say that, but am actually not sure why this is. Could it be that studies seem to show that the UK is the most scared country in the world when it comes to covid? And presumably cineworld is mostly made up of UK investors. But I have no idea, it is strange though that there is that large a discrepancy.

Strange that AMC are at 53.48% (4.15/7.76) of their pre-covid Feb 20th sp. Yet cineworld are at 22.61% (42.84/189.5) of their pre-covid Feb 20th sp.

I don't think it's good news however ultimately would film studios really want their big movies out on the small screen that quickly? Seems like there's a certain stigma to this the closer it is to a straight to video release. Also I have broader faith in the fact that people will always want to go out to the cinema, in the same way that we can all eat at home but pay a premium to eat out from time to time.
However I do think as you say what they've done is essentially sacrificed the industry to try and save themselves...they should be putting up a united front with other cinemas.

The streaming services would have to pay significant premiums to film studios to pay for any lost box office revenue...if their subscribers start to fall after lockdown has ended this might look less appealing. There are also a lot of film directors who would not like this idea and you might see them potentially boycotting or avoiding certain studios.

It seems to say AMC will be sharing in the VOD revenue...not really an ideal time for exhibitors to be making long-term deals. Would be better for exhibitors to be taking a united front with their competitors against streaming services.

Commercial landlords in general have received hardly anything from tenants over this period...originally that was seen as deferred money however I think most have now given up on this and accepted it was a dead quarter.

I don't fully understand your point indepth, I was saying the operating leases are mostly rental expenses which are the normal expenses a lot of business' have, therefore to lump it with debt makes everyone imagine cineworld have borrowed 8 billion which is not the case.

Net debt you're including around 3.7 billion they were previously paying in expenses but now is also put on the balance sheet due to the accounting change. So if you're going to frame it as 7.7 billion debt you also have to add "but 3.7 billion saved in expenses".

People can in August eat out on mon-weds for 50% off, and do it as many times as they want. Should be good for getting people back out. Also with the vat cut cine can either charge lower prices or normal prices and get this credited back later. Also £1,000 for every furloughed worker brough back, cineworld has something 36k staff, maybe 30k on furlough. Potentially might be £30 million for re-opening? Though not sure if it only counts for UK workers.

This was 190p on 20th Feb...if this eventually got back to 172p that's a 400% increase from todays price...what are the other better choices you mention that have better upside potential?
