It may be a reference to us, but to play devil's advocate there are a couple of other steroids that are now alternatives to Dexamethasone, such as Hydrocortisone:

It's good to have alternatives, e.g. if a patient is sensitive to one or reacts badly they can try another.
Any steroids are only being used when patients are already very ill. They may be cheap, but keeping people in hospital costs a fortune, especially in ICU. And we're talking a 20-30% reduction in mortality at best - not exactly the optimum solution.
Which is us, IMHO :)

I believe John Campbell is a nurse and a Dr of Education rather than an MD.
He's very good at explaining things but I don't think he's claiming to be a medical authority.
He simply tries to make the facts and numbers more accessible and more widely understood.
He's not always right - no-one ever is - but IMHO he's honest and trustworthy.
I think most of us here are a bit more optimistic about therapeutics :)

Great post Eva. I want to point out that IIs do not have any information from the company that we don't have. Or at least I certainly hope not, that would be illegal. What they do have is their own highly professional research teams, including scientists, and probably 2 or 3 pmjhs working full time :)

It is quite possible that government is wary about talking about therapeutics because of the need to ensure people are being more careful. IMHO it is most likely that government is waiting for a full package of evidence before making any announcements. Our trials are ongoing.

Vaccines are far from a one hit wonder, unfortunately. They are never 100% effective, they may only provide limited protection for a limited time etc. Sadly it seems very unlikely we'll have one this year.

Re: Weaker strain - to successfully make this point, you would need to provide evidence. Saying 'many doctors privately believe' is not evidence. Your anecdotes are certainly getting weaker.

Chris I appreciate the sentiment, but it's both. I can agree that some concerns are genuine. Unfortunately others are not.
Most conspiracy theories are nonsense, but it is naive to assume there is no collusion, fraud or corruption on AIM, it is a very well-known issue. BBs are chock full of attempts to influence PIs, some more innocent than others.

I believe in free markets, but some level of regulation is always a necessity to maintain integrity.
Without integrity, markets function poorly.

I agree that anyone who feels overexposed should sell.
Do your own research. Verify what others post. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.

I have a large shareholding here and I generally take an active interest in my investments.

Worth remembering that trial conclusion dates tend to be worst case estimates.
IIRC the original registration suggested a conclusion date of August 31 and the first results RNS came on July 20th.

Quite obviously, no-one is going to be emailing the travel or food desk of the Guardian.
It would be a grave error to assume that reading a wide range of newspapers indicates weakness.
