Irrespective of the brilliance of the asset, the rising price of energy, little prospect of total global green energy over the next 2 decades, (and a personal desire to keep straight 6's on the road), the BOD of copl put it at the top of the risk pyramid. Provided that they dont snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, this could eventually be a diamond. I originally got in at 16 out at 12 and back in at 2 and am continuing to add on dips because the slack water isnt going to last for long. AIMHO GLA

But please help me understand why at the current extreme undervaluation, doesnt private eq or a competitor avoid all the gritty wrangling with copl and just buy the company outright. Its going to cost somewhat more than the current market cap but even if a bid was tabled at eg 50p I believe a lot of hands would fold. Jam today.

Capitulation before the bounce maybe? I was buying below this price last year so wheres the problem. Those who bought higher are clearly bothered. The asset is what it is and will remain such. The BOD may have questions to answer depending on how this works out. The EPL did us no favours but it does look as though it may be watered down. Ive seen worse s@@@ shows and hopefully this will eventually come good once weaker hands have folded. ALL IMHO GLA LTH JOG'ers

We can but live in hope that our leaders are being politically astute and choosing not to announce the "refining" of the EFL until the Easter w/e when such will be lost in other bank-holiday news. Do we credit them with such careful foresight ...... or are they just ignoring the fallacy of the punitive EPL that they introduced.

#fastfood: I'm in i3e and its working well for me. good well funded divi, plenty of fcf, co looks to have a well considered strategy for growth, no debt, great asset which is not going out of fashion irrespective of environmental issues. all in all not bad for aim and there remains the potential of a t/o which could be icing on the cake of the divs and expected cap appreciation over next 12 month.
with copl, the impression i have is that art is not master of our destiny. there is a strong smell of making it up as we go along. i can live with this as i have always seen copl as a punt and high risk. but if i was the potential "big jv partner" i might be inclined to just buy the co and go at my own pace without a "wily fox" mixing things up. and as bickmaster reminds me, they (jv partner) might not have to pay 32p but could squeeze control away from pi's for considerably less. AIMHO

Agree Stas this could be time of panic and capitulation. Q: With what we such a tremendous asset and a market cap of 16m why doesnt the potential partner just buy the company lock stock and barrel and move forward at their own pace? If any negotiations collapse then the prospect of a t/o bid @32p must be highly likely (and clearly not the result the incumbent mgt would choose, them apparently being underwater at the at price).

Sp looking very distressed especially with the rollingstock issues being outside of BEN management control. Didnt think it was going to go this low but lower lows are looking highly likely.

There are many plausible arguments pro/contra global warming, we will only have a "halfway definitive" answer in hindsight. Irrespective of where you stand on the debate the chances of us ending the use of carbons in the near / midterm, is zero. Why so much angst. As I said earlier today we are only a shade below where we were on 1/3/22. This has been a punt from day 1. Albeit backed by a substantial asset, in a friendly jurisdiction with an experienced team in control. That’s why we are here - substantial POTENTIAL capital gains.
Those bleating loudest might be the ones who bought in latest ie after the hard yards had already been run. Good luck if you bring off the quick return but please just STFU!

Trendz, yes but sp only 6p down on full 12 months. Not saying thats a brilliant result but too many posters are panicking - clearly short-termers who are over invested. This will hopefully come good in time as the asset is quality and the demand is growing.

A great opportunity. I started buying a year ago @ 130p, much higher than a lucky few, and have continued to add.
Chill and load up on positive thinking. As far as I am concerned, if JOG was worth buying at 130p then today its still looking good value, provided the f/o happens that is! Patience and carpe diem.

#tonna very valid point but if the div is judged by analysts / market, unaffordable it wont float irrespective of cornerstone relationship or otherwise. mbu will also, i imgine not want the sp trashed and a high yield is abs no g'tee of strong sp, often quite the opposite.
#pen as always very reasoned comments but you also highlight why it is wrong to focus on divs. you rightly state my points that the rolling stock are critical and that the spot price of metcoal (will in part) determine profit and that (maybe) II's will enter the fray once they see trains (but they wont until they see reliable months of 100kt mined) etc. Lots of "ifs" here. And the 77HWM hasnt yet started.
"If" all goes well wonderful but it will take time and their are bound to be issues on the way - hopefully not another JS, or flooding of the track, or hurricanes etc
Yes I would like a large div but I would rather Bens reinvest in the co and achieve serious growth and expand. if pi's want large divs go for more established co's or some of the small oilers eg I3E currently pays 10%
