IMHO you do not negotiate for a long time over anything that is cheap, only things that are valuable. I suspect delays experienced here are due to everyone and his dog trying to get more than their fair share and the impasses that brings. Even within the VAST portfolio, I think that applies. The most valuable assets are the most hard fought and delayed. However, no-one took the metals and gems out of the ground and not one has signed away the rites to them, and if it takes a few more years, it takes a few more years. I have every confidence long term. IMHO stick with it and buy the lows - but do slice the rises - that helps psychologically,

My bad m8. 350% would be 7/9ths not 7/8ths so 78%. Still a lot butonly half as bad therefore twice the chance of recovery - so infact much better - if I'm understanding correctly. Long - I see where you're coming from but to me that is a moneterist answer. I guess the answer is nothing. I wouldn't want to live like the Chinese, or the US working class, but I think my offspring might end up living like the latter- but without the top end jobs that exists for skilled workers in the US to aspire to. They all think that nothing for nothing is a better deal than something for something. I work with a Belgian lad, he echos our opinion on that. When I visit Germany on business I get a glimpse of how the other half live... workers (German) better off, employers in there with the troops, no one seemingly on a free ride, and a plan. I remember last year in Germany, a German in a conference doing a British joke. "From next week the British will be introducing a plan to improve transport. They will be switching from driving on the left to driving on the right. This wil be phased in to avoid confusion. So from next week cars and bikes will drive on the left, trucks and buses will drive on the right". I laughed - just about sums us up.

Hi Farend - yes but at the time it was still profitable and ala the US model, jack shit help was offered for retraining. Also the way the news reporting was biased was reminscent of Russia at its best - but then I did the one about big money pulling every string earlier. LOL Jay - no she was dogmatic about Ronnie and the US - I forgot to add that to my list of dislikes - and then so was TB - and that led to trouble as well. GB wasn't - and that led to trouble. Our relationship across the ocean has always been a lose lose one for us. She said she would take back the Falklands - she did. She said she would break the Unions - which I warned people would mean loads of redundencies - she did. She said she woud deregulate the banks - she did. The ony one I ever heard her renage on was the poll tax - which btw was probably one reason I got so much hostility over being English when I lived in Glasgow - you lot weren't there. Can't fault her comitment to do what she said - even if I didn't agree with all of it.
