I wonder how large the short position is in AST stock - I bet big, and before someone suggests it is not declared naked short positions never are, these positions are kept in house.

One thing I know is shorts will have to close, we got a small sample of how quickly the share price can turn a few days ago when the bid hit .17p

The BOD have a lot to answer for as does the Nomad nonetheless, no idea what is going on but news on one form or another has to come soon.

Managed to add 100k on Thursday but had to go in with a limit order - there is nothing on-line still.

If the debt gets sorted then we have a circa 80,000 oz gold producer valued at only £25m - peers like AAZ hit a £200m m/cap this year.

It is clear where this will go once a re-structure is announced.

No wonder they will not sell you many at current levels.

There must be some large orders waiting to be filled, worth noting that most of the major shareholders are in this around .45p to .55p

I can see this re-rating to around .15p to .20p based on prospects.

Bradis - you suggest secrecy but clearly some folk are in the know otherwise why the 1 billion volume?

The only other explanation is they are about to embark on a massively dilutive placing, and the volume is forward selling, that said many instances that shares are pumped higher ahead of placings these days, it is a massive mystery.

I have been around the markets a long time and I simply cannot get my head around the 1 billion share volume yesterday - one third of the company. What brought about this volume and why did it occur given that the majority of the stock is held by retail investors in nominee accounts, even Riverfort only held 350m shares.

The fact there has been no statement is totally unreal, the shares have lost 65% of value since the placing RNS, the BOD sit idly by and watch this, it could be argued the company is in breach of AIM rules by failure to clarify price sensitive information (eg INA contract)

It is totally unacceptable for this matter to continue, it needs addressing, the NOMAD should be held accountable, is there a false market in the stock for example.

I have totally lost faith in John B, he was SO upbeat at that shareholder event in March, loads of initiatives and plans, the share price was around .50p at the time. There will be no place to hide for these guys if the outcome is shareholder wipe-out.

INA extended their revolving credit facility in mid November, they say..........

'The extension of this facility further ensures stable financial support for INA operations and future investment activity'

They have to be candidates to acquire Ascent IMO.

In my view the BOD are playing a fast and lose game by not updating the market, I also question the Nomad.

You do not get one third of a company's equity traded without reason and of course the BOD know what is going on.

I draw attention to the following which I deem to be of price sensitive nature...

No update on the sales contract with INA which expired in November
No information concerning the small convertible note which was due in November
IF Riverfort have been allowed to dispose & break the terms of the finance a reason MUST be given

I am far from impressed by the antics of this new BOD, I deemed the conference call to be terse and unhelpful, laying out a plethora of potential goings on without anything material, what was the point.

Aside from possible breaches of AIM rules one has to ask why clear explanations have not been given concerning many aspects, the compressor, seismic data, no permit applications in Croatia + no legal action + a number of other matters that are foggy.

I am expecting some form of bid or merger, the question is at what price for the shareholders ??

Some forecasts out there talk about gold at $2000oz - it has consolidated around the $1450oz level and is due a run IMO.

Nothing available on-line today BTW, the coiled spring effect is getting tighter, once it goes a fast 2p cannot be ruled out IMO.

I base my optimism on a number of factors but the one that strikes me most are recent statements about what they intend to do next year - there is no if and maybe's it is what we intend to do.

Clearly the new CEO is very confident about debt restructure resolution therefore.

I have been here a long time but feel pressure building on the share price to the upside, it has been nigh impossible to buy stock for over 1 month, the odd sell is immediately taken off market by a long standing buyer who seems to have been around for a few months.

I cannot understand why this has not significantly re-rated, maybe the debt situation has hindered this but, surely, this is due to investor ignorance of the company. The banks did not pull the rug when the gold price was $1100oz and production was 30k oz pa did they, production is now on target for 70k oz pa and gold at $1450.

My view is buy as many as you can, this will be heading far higher over the next few weeks and months.

I have been very skeptical about buying more AST this year at the ever lower levels but I feel now it is time to buy or add to either make a decent profit or have some chance of recovering ones investment.

The clue is in the current market cap which in my view is bordering on farcical given the project in Slovenia , consider the suggested NPV of £180m verses the current £4.5m m/cap. It would only take a modicum of decent news to propel share price multiple times.

I also fully believe the shares have been heavily shorted, it is known that entities follow the likes of Riverfort and Yorkville, there could easily be a short squeeze, some signs already.

A market update is overdue, could the company finally have some fortune by way to the appeal court ??

At 1p the market cap would only be £30m

Not many 70,000 oz pa gold producers valued at £25m is there ?

The debt will be sorted, it's only a matter of time, as people have pointed out this was 5p a share a couple of years ago when production was next to nil !!

There have been around 700m shares traded since Riverfort became involved with fund raise around .28p in late September

We know Riverfort can only sell around 35m a month - so lets say they have dumped 100m out of that 700m

We know most long term shareholders would not sell at current levels, most holding averages north of 1p

Clearly the sell side is responsible for most of that volume due to the share price dropping from .28p - this is why I suspect there is a large short position in AST currently and that has to close.

I would not be surprised if there is a significant naked short position in AST right now and they are starting to close.

The market makers were not allowing buying on-line earlier and have widened the spread to discourage buying activity, makes it hard for short positions to buy back.

I see a strong rebound therefore in the share price ahead of news - I will not be selling any of mine - we know news is overdue on many fronts and pressure is building on the BOD to release it.

This could quickly return to .30p and move far higher if the right news hits.

Hard to believe this was trading at nearly 5p in December 2017 - there has been some dilution since but not to warrant a 1.15p share price, more-so given recent developments in Zambia.

Can see a nice run up in the SP in December, usually a good month for XTR.

As mentioned prior Bird was very bullish about XTR's prospects a few weeks ago at Proactive.

If he is buying now best follow him IMO.

According to Yahoo there has been nearly 700m shares traded (nearly 25% of the issued capital) since the Riverfort finance deal was announced - let us assume Riverfort have dumped 100m of those, my bet is there is a large short position in the stock - this needs to close.

This was trading around .30p before the Riverfort deal, I have said all along so as soon as buy volume exceeds the circa 30m Riverfort annual monthly dump then the share price will increase.

I would hazard a guess that they are behind the rise, it does their reputation no good if outside parties see what happens to a share price once they are involved - I also suspect some short positions will be closing out as some news has to be forthcoming over the next two weeks IMO.

I can see this heading back to the .20p -.25p range based on a technical bounce from a heavily oversold position - if the right news comes anything is possible !

Billing strikes me as a bit of a waffler - here is the recent interview, he needs to watch his back MTR are clearly on the case and will demand a shareholder value increase.

A change of management would work wonders IMO - also why bother with an ASX listing that adds more bureaucracy and cost - a number of AIM juniors have ditched the Aussie listing recently, the latest being Bezant.

MTR are tightening the screws on Billing and have the financial clout to do so, he will no longer be able to make endless promises and not deliver - the MTR statement on Thor says all you have to know.

For the above reason (as well as ROCK & EUA retail punters in Thor = profits transfer) I believe the shares are a buy with a view to a significant bounce from current levels.

Can see .60p coming quickly then a move to 1p+
