Or...it wasn’t a c**k up, they did it intentionally? Given the delayed schedule we are all aware of, I suspect the accounts that would have been due by end of Jan would not have painted a pretty picture. May not have helped negotiations with funders, wouldn’t do SP any favours. Changing the reference date again bought an extra three months (five as FCA are relaxing rules for covid) for SYME to put out an audited full year of results, during which funding could hopefully get sorted and make the whole picture completely different. Technically they haven’t broken any rules by changing the date like this but the FCA wouldn’t be impressed with this because the principle they work on is ensuring full information is in the market on a timely basis for the protection of shareholders. I think that this, coupled with allegations/complaints have triggered the checks that are being done. So in a sense the move backfired because I don’t think syme were expecting such a long suspension, however it could end up working in their (and our) favour if the time in suspension is used to get funder in place.
