LEFKOSIA Good Morning. On the exchanged like Betfair you can lay a horse to loose. If you bet a horse at 3/1 and it wins you pay Betfair 3x your stake but if it looses like it should ( you hope) you win one point. When I was a Racing Manager ( retired last year) I would visit the gallops and note horses with entries who were not working well and lay them to loose. My biggest bet was £1000 and of course it lost, so I won a £1000 less 31/2 Betfair commission. That's why you stick a limit on so if it won your liability is controlled.
