Cut of date for buying Aviva shares with dividend entitlement would be 7th April. If you bought on 8th April you would not be entitled to the dividend.

If one bought in at 8 quid then not good. However, I would say that buying in at todays price will get a good return in a year or two, with a decent growing dividend along the way.

I thought the deadline for bids for Aviva France has passed? Thought it was 15th January?

Well my average is 36p so I will hold, I'm sure 2 or 3 years down the line I will be smiling. Hope I have not cursed it now!

Which just goes to show the FTSE merely tracks the DOW. Look at todays FTSE and DOW chart. FTSE dived on DOW opening well down; as soon as DOW started making a little bit of a recovery, FTSE followed!

Earliest one can expect news on dividends will be when Full Year Results for 2020 are released on 24th February.

In your opinion's, what would be the worst case scenario and best case scenario for investors after GSK has been split into 2 companies? Would buying in at todays price likely make a gain after the split has completed?

From your comments what in your opinion is the ultimate objective of the Hedge Funds? Just trade daily selling high and buying low to make daily gains? Or drive the price down over a set time frame of several weeks or months to then buy big when their target price reached? If the latter what would you expect would be the price when the Hedge Funds would start buying big?

Lloyds share price up 50% in four months of course Lloyds does not post a good rise often

and Darth Trader only posts when Lloyds has a good fall he doesn't post often.........................swings and roundabouts!

Where did you pluck the Lloyds dividend of 9.25 from? Not a chance!

I have read that French insurer Macif is preparing a bid rumoured to be in the region of €4 billion for Aviva France. IF this goes ahead, what benefit could share holders expect from this? Noticeable increase in SP? Or a special dividend? Appreciate any views/opinions from investors here.

So you have stated that in your view Lloyds is not an investment for you but you are looking for larger company to invest a large sum of cash into. So please why do you keep posting your rhetoric and propaganda here? The subject matter of a large proportion of your posts, rants on conspiracy theories about the US Election and CCP infiltrating the West with millions of spies in preparation for the CCP take over of the world have nothing to do with investing with Lloyds. So please, stop posting here, focus your efforts on finding a stable large cap company you can invest in, invest your money there, and then pollute the respective BB for that company with your conspiracy theories.

WW; I am fully aware we are not yet getting any dividend. But when a dividend is finally reinstated and declared, the amount per share at that time will be more than if there are no share buy backs resulting in increased amount of shares to divide the amount set aside for dividend.

Bertram; If there was no buy back of shares then the total shares in issue would increase by 1,000,000, which theoretically then results in a lower dividend per share as more shares in issue.
