AGM on Thursday so hopefully will get confirmation what the strategy is to grow the company and at same time return excess cash to share holders. Good communication should see SP start upwards climb again; no positive information then SP will stagnate around current level. GLA

We need some positive information from AB at the AGM 6th May or trading update 27th May regarding the plan for returning excess cash to share holders to get the SP moving upwards again!

Why the drop this morning?

Business as usual; Dow tumbles and FTSE follows!

Well my earlier opinion that the new trading range for SP was 400 - 410 has been shot down in flames big style! Should have kept my mouth shut!

400 getting to close for comfort!

I think the new trading range for Aviva SP going to be 400- 410 until news of how excess capital is to be returned to shareholders!

Pre-pandemic range £5.00 to £5.50? Current SP is now at pre-pandemic level. Last time SP was above £5.00 was June 2018.

Will the FTSE climb above 7000 this week? Seems to be surfing the crest of a wave just now; how long will it last?

Same again today? Market well up but Aviva down? I see the other Insurance/Financials are down today as well?

Nothing until all sales transactions have been completed. Berengburg estimate 1.5 billion in 2022 and 1.5 billion in 2023.

Well the hype over the news with this mornings RNS confirming Poland sale has soon fizzled out!

It seems general consensus was that 400p was a psychological target price that a large amount of automatic sells had been set at? Now this price has been breached and all of the automatic sells at 400 will have been executed hopefully there will be less pressure on SP going forward for a while? Any opinions what the next resistance point for SP will be?

Will SP hold above 400 today? I guess that 400 p will trigger a large amount of automatic sells?

Thanks for posting the link for information on share buybacks, very good insight. After reading it it seems to me that a share buyback would only benefit share holders if the shares were immediately cancelled. Holding them in treasury suggests at some stage they will reappear; either by company selling them on the open market to raise funds, or as future bonus awards to BOD.

Looking at todays RNS; does the information on this say that Aviva Investors has bought shares in Ultra Electronics?

Berenberg upgrades Aviva from Hold to Buy; TP 478.

If Aviva eventually go down the share buyback route, what happens to the shares they buy? Do they get cancelled? Or do they simply get held in treasury? And for shares that are held in treasury, do they qualify for dividend payment? If they do still qualify for dividend payment share buyback seems pointless? Even more so if shares in Treasury are being held as future bonuses to be issued to members of BOD.
