BF,
I wouldn't touch that Caroil Rig with a bargepole, but more importantly I don't think that ARA would either.
ARA ara(!) very professional outfit, with $140m to spend on this project. Why would they use an ancient rig that is not really up to the very high-pressure gas they are targeting, instead of spending some money getting a much more capable rig? They are not Aminex many years ago trying to work with a limited budget. I would expect them to use a much more capable rig that can withstand the pressures that halted the Likonde drilling and effectively caused the reservoir damage to NT-2.
NT-2
"Due to strong gas influxes encountered while drilling through the reservoir section, and in order to preserve the safety of the well operations, Aminex was required to increase drilling mud weights in order to maintain well control and operate within safety parameters. The higher than planned mud weights resulted in reservoir invasion which tempered overall test performance."

Also, the Caroil rig being on site in 2017 does not tally with the plans by ARA to ship a rig to Tanzania in November 2020, why would they ship a rig to Tanzania if there was a suitable rig already in Tanzania waiting to be used, unless of course the Caroil rig is deemed by ARA to not be suitable, or the off chance it was not available, although if stored on site that would not be the case anyway, and unlikely it was not already in Tanzania.

"In parallel, APT will commence with the contracting and procurement of the services for the Chikumbi-1 well (CH-1). Since assuming the operatorship, APT has reviewed the well design, data acquisition and formation evaluation strategy, completion design and well testing plans for the well. The outcome of the review has been to further integrate the learnings from the previous wells to the design parameters for CH-1, optimisation of the data acquisition plan to better align key objectives and reduce costs, and an update to the well testing design to capture key data for the development including a simplification of the proposed completion programme to optimise testing results."
"With the well now confirmed it provides the basis for contracting the necessary services to execute the programme. APT will now progress with securing the Long Leads Items including the well head and rig. The joint venture will look at the option for an early mobilisation of the rig to Tanzania in order to mitigate against one of the key uncertainties on the timeline to spud."
