Guy It would work as far as I understand but its usage in emergency settings is for babies. The test looks for a section of gene that will be present in adults as well as babies. It is highly unlikely for an adult not to have been given antibiotics at some point in there life and so a bit redundant. Nice I think were interested in none emergency settings for use of adults. (maybe as part of a screening program so warn potential parents ect) weather this is viable or not I have no idea. It maybe that genedrive test is cheaper or easier than the current labs test and may have a role.
To be fair Guy It does seam unlikely that Bill Newman would be involved in developing a second beside test for hearing antibiotic induced hearing lose after spending 5 years working with GDR on one.
It might be they are not allowed to say they are involved yet but it is highly unlikely they are not part on Devotes project one and two in my book.
I am always a little warry of people claiming to have got information direct from the company.. They may or may not have, but I know, even knowing people there how difficult it is to get the time of day from them never mind anything useful or Market sensitive.
So as I say He may have found a loose lipped employee or may not have.
I do find it interesting that people have assumed that Devote with be giving GDR lumps of money (again they might) I would consider it far more likely that they fund or part fund roll outs in Hospitals in the North West and help raise the profile of the tests rather than depositing large sums of cash with GDR, but we see I may be wrong there to. TBH I would be happy with either,.
iIam convinced that Devote and GDR are or will be working closely together on at least Devotes projects 1 and 2.
Project 1: development and commercialisation of a
bedside point of care genetic test to improve outcome from stroke. Project 2 - development of an ultrarapid point genetic assay to prevent antibiotic induced hearing loss. Project 3 - project to develop
comprehensive pharmacogenetics assay to improve efficacy and safety of prescription of man
Interesting that Devote's three projects in the job application are all genetic tests.
All of which could be run on Genedrive a tried and tested reliable system. (why would you go else where ?)
We know Devote has links already with Genedrive.
What would be interesting is if they intended to use Genedrive as the platform for a whole range of tests developed using the funding. imagine 5 or 6 companies all producing tests for it at the same time. From a handful of tests to 10's of test in very short order. That is what I would be doing :)
pure speculation but the potential is huge...again (how many times have I thought that about GDR )
:)
William Newman who the applicants will be working under, is Bill Newman who worked with GDR on Hearing loss study.
looks a dead cert to me now for Devote funding for stroke and hearing loss projects and possibly a third project.
Stunning news.
Sorry If I am repeating stuff catching up.
Sorry I have missed a few days can someone repost link that suggested Devote funding was on the cards please? I am struggling a little with the new LSE format which seams to make it difficult to find older posts.
That is not a nice report you are deliberately trying to misled people here.
That is a news report it even says at the top of it that it is a NEWS article.
holes beginning to appear in your narrative.
you have also haven't told me to invest in anywhere else today...
Come on chap put some proper effort in please.
Having just had a quick look Bank
you are using data from sections of NICE report which has been super-seeded.
you can tell this because it has the words "SUPER-SEEDED - see erratum" written over the top of it.
Are you cherry picking your data source to suit your narrative?
