Fault systems...part ONE15 Feb 2023 08:25
I refer to the discussion re faulting ...
When GKP (!!!) originally tried to farm out Shaikan
they had no takers for it...
It was a grim moment for them as they had put their money down to obtain the licence...paid a so called sign up bonus
The reason for farm out failure being that they were trying to farm out a four way dip closure
And the problem was that the was no closure on the western edge evidenced on the seismic!
so countless very senior geologists thought Shaikan might be dry...
as the oil might have migrated laterally into the adjoining licence, Sheik Adi
as I said... GKP had already laid their money down (thanks Bruce) as sign up bonus to get the licence...so they had to quit or raise money
So
After more funding, GKP flew solo
To drill the SH1 well
But the lack of closure on the Western flank was an enormous daily worry...
I had bought 1% of GKP...
I had posted extensively about it at 4.5p
The internet trolls shouted me down
SH1 was drilled very overweight...VERY...
as there was serious concern that IF big oil remained, it could cause real issues and the hole could be lost
They were mindful of Baba Gurger number one well...many years before!
They reached TD
The well failed to flow
They acidised
It failed again
They acidised three more times...nothing moved
failure loomed large
A big row ensued when Adnan told Todd to acidise the hell out of it one more time...real money each time!
So a fifth acid load was 'injected'
The well magically cleaned up...
the rest is history...
It became one of the defining oil discoveries of the past thirty years...easy 40000 barrels day
Go back to the Western flank...with no closure!
Go back to my post dated 20 Dec 2011
In which I was totally clear that the SH4 well ...being then drilled right on the Western extremity of the structure...would flow really well
It was the biggest 'gonads on the line' statement ever made public ...to this day... by an online poster
It received almost 600 'likes'
My post was 100% correct...
SH4 was a huge success
and yielded the greatest BOO of any of the wells...
It was very high pressure
I was THEN asked by a senior GKP employee
how I knew the answers...way in advance of GKP knowing!
That chap is now a good friend of mine...
we talk often
and meet for lunches etc...
We discuss mutual business matters
he is also someone whose connections would blow your mind...literally Presidents
Folk might want to consider the role of my dear late friend Adnan Samarrai in this success
Folk might also want to research the nature of the slip fault between Shaikan and Sheik Adi !!!
Folk might also want to research the 'complex thrusted folk belt of the Zagros'
There is an old saying
'Don't bring a knife to a gunfight'
I would humbly suggest that some posters on here..rather than constantly parading their ignorance ...
might do better to throw away their cutlery drawers
