I'd like to think it was purely based on merit, but where USA is concerned, especially military matters, they hate even a whiff of foreign involvement.

My Dad's been in a care home for 112 weeks @ £1600/week. The local authority (LB Bexley) is short of care places for those who have less than £23k in assets, so they procure rooms in his care home at a 'special' rate. So not only has he spent £180,000 (and counting) on his own care, but he's generously subsidizing those with fewer assets. He turned 90 this year, so was working and paying taxes from the 1950s through decades of austerity and the aforementioned Labour tax grabs of the 1970s. Unless they are crooks,'the rich old sods' continue to pay their way and contribute to society until the day they die.

As always, I'm conflicted.

I just paid £1.47/litre for SUL to fill up my AMG, which tells me I'm getting an average of 14mpg. If everyone just did their bit....;-)

Ryanair currently up 7.65% on the day.

If only my IAG/RYA holdings were reversed :(

Well I called that dip seriously wrong..

Oh well, in again. I'm sure my children, or grandchildren, will thank me :)

Any progress is good news, but the long-standing adage 'Practical nuclear fusion reactors are at least thirty years away' still stands... and even when we arrive at that milestone, the global population will still need fertilisers, plastics, lubricants...

I think it was just oversold. It seems to me that there is a new trend to take profits, rather than run long positions. Commission free trading brings with it new metrics...

This is true. My g/f is Chinese and she tells me the situation is much worse than is being reported, obviously.. However, the Chinese authorities don't take the casual attitude to lockdown that we do, in an attempt to nip outbreaks in the bud. Most metropolitan adults have been double vaccinated and she's not aware that the main vaccines are ineffective against Delta. Haven't seen her in the flesh for 18 months since her intended arrival here in March '20 has been kicked down the road. She was hoping September, but that seems highly unlikely now :-(
