Plenty of us took a painful hit on this investment (I'm still sitting on a rubber ring) but I don't get this constant *****ing and moaning by 'certain' participants. It's tough, but get over it, take it and move on, but please quit these very childish outbursts - you're making a fool of yourself. Those of us who choose to maintain our holding check in here to monitor any developments and not read the petulant rants of a sore loser. Grow up FFS.

I've taken the opportunity to top-up this morning. My belief is that the company has taken steps to make its retail side more streamlined and food retailers have the ability to effectively pass inflationary costs through the chain. They squeeze suppliers while at the same time raising their sales prices in what might be described as 'the fog of war'. I have many years of personal experience on the supply side and of course, I buy food and drink like everyone else. Quite surprised at the level of rises in Aldi - which is good for Tesco; we've established the point at which the so-called discounters can no longer undercut the old-guard supermarkets. Also, margins tend to be higher on own label products, so again there is an opportunity to maintain overall profits. I think trading statements have to be both prudent and modest. Any celebratory comments immediately attract bad press, which then needs to be explained and defended.

Many of the good suggestions I'd already tried, but finally I moved from Chrome browser (latest version) to Firefox and the problem doesn't exist - and the pages load so much faster!

Forgive me for going off-topic, but I wanted to ask in a busy forum - Am I the only one being constantly bombarded with 'privacy options' pop-ups, across the whole site? I've tried selecting options, but nothing will stop them. It's been going on for several weeks, but at first I ignored it as a s/w glitch. It's driving me nuts!

I've always felt that Warren East's departure was a portent of circumstances that he wouldn't find palatable. Melrose have an excellent track record of restructuring and imposing radical management on their acquisitions. Sceptics maintained that GKN was too big a mouthful for MRO, but look what happened. Personally. I think MRO is a better fitting candidate than BA right now.

I think it's strange that no comment has been made by the BOD regarding the expensive and and fundamentally positive reports of the seismic data. I read most of the RISC, and don't recall seeing any caveats mentioned specifically - but of course I don't claim to be expert in these matters.

It would appear that nothing in the reports dampened Peterkin's enthusiasm either...

Ditto that, but I take some comfort that this wasn't a coin toss, I did more DD on this than just about any of my investments to date. In some ways, I'm more peeved at my smallish loss on THG, because I just followed the herd and went against my instinct. Thankfully, despite the sore bottom, my investment was what I could afford to lose. The F-Type is on ice, but I'll be out in my AMG over the weekend. :-) Best wishes to you and the rest of we losers, for now at least.

This thought had crossed my mind too, but from experience, premiums to cover such a risk I think would be prohibitive. However, having browsed their website again yesterday, RISC do seem to place great stock in their reputation and success rate. It's unthinkable that they won't be involved in unpicking this mess, and maybe offering some additional analysis, but I doubt we can expect any financial compensation.

There is effectively a third party in this venture, the government of Timor-Leste who are desperate for USD. It may be that once the realities of the field have been established, even if not the expected bonanza, T-L might be willing to accept amended terms to at least generate some income and make the proposition for investors more palatable.
