Warpaint sitting pretty, says Berenberg

Cosmetics retailer Warpaint London (W7L) has suffered a minor revenue miss but Berenberg says there is still a ‘significant runway’ for growth.

Analyst Matthew Abraham reiterated his ‘buy’ recommendation and increased the target price from 680p to 700p for the make-up brand, which was trading up 3.7%, or 14.5p, at 397p after a 28% fall following a revenue miss last week.

It reported revenue 4% below consensus for full-year 2024 but Abraham said it was ‘crucially… followed by a sharp reacceleration in growth through January to 15% year-on-year’.

He said the heavy share price fall was ‘an overreaction given our perception of the cyclicality of the slowdown’.

‘While the weakness in December is disappointing, we continue to see a significant runway of revenue growth ahead, primarily due to the yet-to-be-won component of the existing customer store estate, which Warpaint is pursuing expansion within,’ said Abraham.

Last week’s slide in the shares ‘does not detract from our conviction in the sustainability of its growth opportunity’.

Up over 5% now. Quite dramatic for no apparent reason - but I'm not complaining..

No intention of appearing smug, but I just checked and my average is 647, which does not reflect any great buying skillz, but more how long I've been building my holding.. Anyway, I've built and held mainly because I think it's fundamentally a good company, well run, bit of a moat, well priced against peers and very well placed and positioned for the future. Like Lionheart, I really can't figure why the shares are in the doldrums, but I don't think we're missing anything fundamental and I just hope I don't end up having to eat my words...
