I have to pay whichever is the greater of 15% (canadian WHT) or my income tax rate on dividends. There are no tax advantaged accounts available to me. In any case, it is not a big deal it just could be better.

I would be selling if the stock wasn't still meaningfully undervalued.

My dvidends are roundtripped back into the stock but the taxman takes a chunk of it. A situation that could be avoided.

Also using dividends to buy stock and the company buying back stock is not an entirely symmetric situation

Yep. Quarterly dividend payments for 656mn shares amounts to roughly $8.2mn. We earned $51mn during q2. Roughly a ~15% payout ratio.

Segun promised to finance Douta with debt + cash from the balance sheet. I really like this capital allocation policy. The only blemish is the lack of even minimal buybacks as they would be incredibly accretive.

I'm terribly allergic to equity-based financing, especially at these levels. Too often I see incredibly dilutive financing coming in where the new shareholders are rewarded with a huge discount and warrents while the incumbents are left holding the bag (Minera Alamos anyone?). It's a canadian miner after all...

Good thing that Segun, the board and AFC are all substantially invested in this company so they would hurt themselves quite a bit by pulling such a move so I deem that very unlikely.

In some sense, these buyers are lucky as this is actually a fundamentally good company available at a good price.

Mixed feelings

Oracle Power is just another $hitco. Is this just a race to the bottom who can post the most dog$hit company?

1) CEO owns no meaningful amount of shares. Neither does the board. No skin in the game at all.

2) The company develops multiple unrelated project while having zero cashflow. A mixture of thermal coal+power, gold and green hydrogen. Is anyone really that dumb enough to believe this sounds good?

3) The company burns $700k a year. Beginning of 2025 they had like $600k in cash. They need financing soon. It's basic math.

4) Market cap of $2.5mn is so low that equity financing is basically trolling.

That is like 5 minutes of research. I bet if you dig into each of those projects there is more garbage you could dig up. If you invest in ORCP you need to have your head examined looool

The listing on AIM is probably just for you british folks.

Anyone else doesn't use AIM listed stocks. Not because they are necessarily bad, but rather because the utterly confusing system with auctions and market makers.

Furthermore, if you use a common broker for international stocks like e.g. IBKR you would face the issue that they use Direct Market Access instead of market makers. I had cases where I was bidding 5% above the ask and I didn't get filled. How braindead is that?

1) cut his salary by 70%. That is $385k in savings per year not even considering other C-suite are cutting too

2) forced him to appear more often in Mongolia. The last meeting he held in Ulaanbaatar.

That probably did more than you brainlets did in 10 years for this company (well except for gifting them money through capital raises I guess)

Leadership cutting their wages after having failed stakeholders is a good move. I have seen it happen in other britbong stocks too. It's taking responsibility.

You can't fault MB for that. Maybe he should have done it earlier to help preserve working capital. TBH I didn't expect him to do that at all I saw him rather ride it out grabbing as much of the remaining cash in the company as possible.

He also did the call from Mongolia instead of Singapore so I think he knows how angry some of the shareholders are. We recently hit a new ATL after decades after all.

I love memeing and gloating too, but that was objectively a good move.
