RE: Merchant arm of the business29 Aug 2021 12:49
Ummm, ok well a few points here:
Your first point, you need a very high volume of transactions, to make 0.5% a decent revenue number. This leaves the business dependent on cross selling other products and services. This figure does not take into account individual deals done for large merchants (ie the THG Agreement i think is 0% for the first year and commission on the BTC cashback because MODE management were desperate to get in). Finally, they only gave a pay through MODE app only product available at the moment.
On your second point, the fast QR payment option is a payment option and is not open banking per se. Some elements of OPEN BANKING are used for it but OPEN BANKING is more than facilitating a payment method. MODE do not have any products or services that are open baking related compared to what PLAID have for example.
On your third point i agree. Those GEN Z turn into 40 and 50 somethings later on down the line, aiding long term adoption. GEN Z however will ask for more coins as a cash back option as they keep a portfolio of coins, therefore MODE should get there act together and get more coins om board otherwise merchants will find someone who will help them give them what their customers wants.
