Which is why GDR should give them away. I can't imagine the manchester hospitals involved in the testing of the kits paid for the actually kits. They might have paid for each test though.

Ultimately the NHS managers will try to keep costs down by adhering to NICE andthe clinicians will want to do the best for their patient by using GDR to optimise the prescribed medicine immediately and reduce risk of a s econd stroke. Why haven't GDR researched the data regarding the timelines of a second stroke after the first? This is very important sales information, assuming my quick google on the matter is correct and patients are at risk of a second stroke within the first 2 days of the first.

Yes, obviously, so will the NHS managers agree to buying the kit. GDR should offer it for free to every hospital that it thinks will use it, as GDR will make alot more money from the use of the kit than the kit itself.

Yes that's clear in the NICE announcement that the clinicians need to consider using labs first but NICE isn't strict. NICe uses the word AVAILABLE. WHo determines whether the lab test is available? The clinicians? If the clinicians want a quick result they'll just say "my patient needs a result in 30 mins and the lab test result is not available for 2.5 days so I need to use the GDR kit" . Plus NICe mentions lab tests are only cheaper than GDR's kit when the batch size is large enough. This is also subjective. How big does the batch size need to be for a lab test to cost less than GDRs £100 + vAT? How many stroke patients will one hospital have every hour/day? I get the impression NICE had to give preference to lab tests simply to cover themselves, yet in practice clinicians want immediate test results so they can prevent a secondary stroke and not risk waiting 2.5 days. What are the statistics on a stroke patient getting a secondary stroke within 2.5 days of the first?

Any clinicians here that can confirm whether GDR gene test kit exists in the test directory? After the NICE announcement I expect it should be. If it isn't, then will it be and when?

says prof Mcdermott.. he doesnt want his patients to wait for a result from a lab test.... its as if NICE had to say lab tests first, gdr kit second!! Perhaps if they didnt state this, nice committee would be questioned why they recommended a private company above nhs own labs.

How can a test be ordered from the Test Directory?

Tests listed in the National Test Directory are available through the genomic laboratory network. NHS England has commissioned the delivery of all core tests for rare and inherited diseases and cancer with the seven genomic laboratory hubs (GLH) across England (GLH) in accordance with the National Genomics Test Directories. Clinicians should order testing from their regional GLH which will carry out most tests.

I am sure of my patient's genetic diagnosis, and I only want to test my patient for a certain gene. How do I request this?

Single-gene testing is not available for most genes that are tested by sequencing in the Genomic Medicine Service (GMS), but clinicians can request a panel that will provide the data required.

NB: The gene should be noted on the referral form to allow the laboratory to guide testing.

Where do my samples/tests go and when will I get them back?

Genomic tests will be performed by the GMS at one of the seven GLHs (or their sub-contractors), to nationally agreed standards.

you are saying "labortory testing" is done in house by NHS itself, not by private lab testing companies. If NHS doesnt have the capacity to test in their own labs then they need to use GDR kit, according to NICE announcement?

GDR do sell, just not in significant amounts.... but now they have full recommendation by NICE the market DEMANDS significant sales forthwith. And the most enthusiastic rampers are demanding an RNS regarding significant sales very soon.

This is perhaps why other companies have gone private. Mr Cheek did not rule this out earlier this year. Any announcement of taking GDR private and the SP will take an immediate hit imo. And bearing in mind the GDR only exists due to PI's investment I think GDR must remain publicly listed company. Peel Hunt probably suggested the possibility of taking GDR private as evidence shows PH have a huge influence over the financial fortunes of GDR.

I wonder whether GDR pays for this exposure in the Daily Mail. It's a regular occurence imo. Might explain why the cash burn rate is so high. lol.

Usually a mention the daily mail will increase the SP. Its a successfully tried and tested approach by the board of GDR to get the Daily Mail to write a story on a GDR product.
