We'll have to agree to disagree I'm afraid. I look at the FS and see net assets of £1.76B and see a profitable business that has a lot in its future.

I think the fall in sp has been far far beyond the damage caused by the RWA error. A bit unfair to continue to point at that imo

I highly doubt that the 'challenger bank' will accept a takeover bid from a larger bank, and I wouldn't be too happy about it either.

I've gone slightly over my normal asset allocation here. Opportunity too great to miss imo.

I did my calculations based on profit going down 50% this year so results are better than I anticipated and I still think this is a bargain at this sp.

So, the £300M question. Why are shares going today for £740M when the company is likely to be bought for £1.075B?

Would we also get our final dividend for 2019 before the acquisition?

If that was say 40p, that would be significant for existing shareholders.

Question. Bovis value GFRD's market cap of just over £600M at over £1B. If they're correct then they got a good deal. Why then is Bovis's sp down?

Should we expect Bovis's sp to go up tomorrow when GFRD release their (hopefully excellent) full year results?

I have almost always got my timing wrong. I often buy before it bottoms out and sell before the peak, missing 5-10% at both ends. But it’s cruel to myself when I make money to berate myself for not making more. Such is life.

Where are all the ppl who bought at £30+? I’ve never seen anyone say it but there must be some.

Loads of ftse companies are vulnerable to a takeover at the moment imo....

I was in a shop today and the things I needed were reduced from £15 to £2.80. So I marched over to the cashier and said “I’ll pay £2 for this not a penny more.”

The idea that if it went up today it will go up tomorrow is as illogical as saying that if I flip a coin on heads, I am likely to flip another heads.

Codey, such a cynic! My argument is well reasoned, I’m not sure where you’re coming from. I read this board because I find it interesting. Why are you here if you think this is such a bad investment? Why did you invest in the first place (assuming you did)?

Like I said before, anyone who can’t stomach seeing paper losses shouldn’t invest at all. 95% of my investments went down before they went up, but eventually I sold (most not all) at a profit
