Yes I'm afraid ALGW has to share the 1.5% management fee and also the 20% of performance of the fund over 7% with SLIM. While the 0.5% commission I have guessed at is only on 'new' AUM each year the company's overheads will increase as the Directors have performance bonus arrangements (upto +400% of basic salaries) and there will be considerable admin. involved once the fund is up and running.

@James0309. IMO breakeven is when AUM is $650 million and performance of the fund is 10%. I have taken a guess at 3% for the use of the revolving facility and 0.5% as the commission that might have to be paid to acquire AUM. Probably 2-3 years down the line BUT it is possible that ALGW will be bought out by then.

Ophidian. Assuming that they weren't long before today which they have had ample opportunity to do. Although there will probably be plenty of sellers at 3p meaning, if they are short 2.5mil shares, their risk is likely limited to £25k. From my days working on the exchanges (Cocoa/coffee/sugar) waaaaay back in the day it's generally frowned upon to not be square for the week-ends. Having said that £25k is chicken feed to them so they may have that much leeway.

I think you're right. From my perspective a Life Insurance policy payout would be taxed at 40% as the value of my house more than takes care of our joint IHT allowances. If I had such a policy I would be keen to cash it in even at 20-30% as that is equivalent to 60-70% to my children if I can pass it on to them 7 years before I die and they could pay off a chunk of mortgage now.

John112334. Can I assume that you meant Life Insurance rather than Pension?

How many here have private whole of life insurance (i.e. not term assurance)? My children tell me that most salary packages these days come with an element of life insurance both for the family of the employee and for the company who will have costs to replace the individual. These policies are, of course, owned by the company. Personally I never had anything more than the 20 year term assurance which was to cover my wife if I happened to die before our children had flown the nest. FYI all my children upped and left / got married many years ago and I now have 10 grandchildren :)

@bamb. There may well be $100 billion of life policies that are allowed to lapse in the US. BUT how many of these fit into the Black Oak target range? I got the impression that BOAGF were going to target relatively old people and with policies worth £300k - £1 million. I have no idea what %age of the $100 billion this might be. What %age of the target group could ALGW 'capture'?

IIRC a market capitalisation of $100million was mentioned as a possible exit point. £77million equates (given say 225million shares in issue by then due to bonuses etc.) to 34p so that might be when ALGW gets taken over. If this happens in 2 years instead of the 5 years I am guessing at then bring it on :)

OP, yes I do. I think it will take that long to get to 1billion AUM at which point it becomes interesting to the big boys for a takeover.

IMO there is no reason why the ALGW sp couldn't make 40p BUT it will be 5+ years down the line.
