I'm neither long nor short here. I'm a film buff and a cinema goer, hence my interest here. Im not invested in the markets at all right now, I'm 100% in cash. There won't be any v shaped recovery, we can all forget about that. The recovery is going to take a very long time to say the least and it'll be a bumpy road for all with more variants and more scares to come. I'm not tempted at all to buy stocks for the foreseeable future because the outlook remains so bleak. Part of me hopes Cineworld pulls through and makes a recovery, because I do think their cinemas are great, I visit my local Cineworld quite often. But I think it's a particularly badly run company and the decision by Mooky to try and acquire Cineplex when debt was already massive, was an extremely bad, costly and damaging decision on his part. The company was clearly over-stretching itself, everyone could see it apart from him it seems. A few good films isn't going to magically turn the debt situation around. In my view, the appeal is a last ditch desperate attempt to stay afloat for a little longer while they try and figure out what the hell they're going to do to get out of this mess. Shareholders will end up getting screwed one way or another, the least they can expect going forwards is massive dilution.
