Just listened to this, sounds like the figures for the next couple of years, for divi cover anyway, will look poor but there is confidence in the overall plan. Spectrum might be a tad higher before getting back to norms, I suppose it depends on what happens to all those headwinds. Hopefully some will reduce and I'm sure there will be new ones ahead.

So it all depends on how all the deals pan out and the deleveraging over time. Some interesting insights in that audio and worth a listen if your holding Voda and concerned over how the SP is going. Interesting to see what might be if there is a small improvement in one area and how that becomes a much larger improvement in the figures.

As for the SP, it might be some time before sentiment changes but I suspect the SP will rise before the figures increase and sentiment changes for the better. So its up to you to decide what to do. Me, I'm still going to be collecting that divi for the next couple of years.

Its not all smiles as pbt and fcf down but underlying improving. So what have I missed or did I just see what I wanted to see? Conformation Bias rules ok!

So my focus will turn this way this week with the update due. Looks like things have been quietly improving, Kantar and new delivery systems for the south east etc. How is McColls progressing? What will they do with any extra cash?

Reduce debt, more investment and a bigger divi. A bit of all three will do me fine.

Yes, questions on the admin for this system but sounds like you will be able to sell them, maybe free of charges. So everyone sells and then moans about fat cat shareholders again?

The idea sounds good but in practice looks poor. Now if your forced to keep them and given more each year it might work as a loyalty scheme of sorts reducing bills over time but you can get that now with real shares albeit you need the capital to start off with.

Are they setting you up with tax complications? Although a quid in income should be well covered by the tax free allowance but having to fill in a tax return for this is a waste.

Maybe it just needs to start and be tweaked along the way. When you collect your pension you might have 40 x 3 shares so might reduce you bill by a quarter at todays rates forgetting any inflation but they might up the share count too. Sound a bit like Gordon Brown, let me give you a fiver ...... oh! your taxes are going up a tenner too!

Im not sure what news your expecting? VC did comment on the share price at the last update. There have been several RNS's Telecom Argentina, the merger with Idea in India, Vodafone Hutchison Australia, partnerships in North Africa and CYTA in Greece.

I assume business wont be included and I have ignored the Isles of Silly.

So rounding to x3 shares that's £1.08 a year or 27p of your quarterly bill. Im sure Id be ecstatic

Not sure how many customers they have to share the "shares" wont most just sell them instantly for the cash now? or will they be prevented from selling? Will bills just end up with your bill is £100.00 less share gain you owe us £99.90!

why not offer real shares and save the people dealing fees and the like and run some sort of trust? This smacks of trying to be political PC and I doubt the bill payers will think it much benefit but the detail might be much clearer

The deal hasn't happened yet and wont complete till next year. Then it was a 5 year time scale on synergies ...... so I have 2024 on my postcard

on Vod, is that a good thing or a sign of the times. Market generally up yesterday and Vod followed. Another up day expected on the markets but what will Vod do? I suspect it might cause this bb to be busy again.

I might spend the morning watching highlights of Tour of Britain as they cycle around Devon as I did similar rides myself recently and know the roads plus they are off to Whinlatter another climb I like with a coffee n cake stop in the cafe highly recommended.

You would expect them to say anything else though. They are not going to send you an email that says yes we are going to cut the divi but can you just keep it under your hat as the typing pool are a tad slow with RNS's or we would really rather wait until the next update to tell everyone else.

Sorry for the off topic and delay in reply, yes got disillusioned with Debs when they stopped reducing the debt. In hindsight should have sold off too and put the dosh in here maybe. Might have a re-look soon.

Slow and steady suits me fine but it might be a while before we see a rising divi, my favored measure of success here.

On a quick skeg, looks like lower returns for shareholders going forward .....

Will they continue to outperform and reward that bit extra?

I suppose its a sign of the times cutting shareholder returns whilst at the same time creating customer shareholders so they can obtain and share in the rewards!!!!

Decisions Decisions .......

Well I opted to add a few more and overt my eyes for the weekend. Sod Law was not too unkind and waited until the end of the day to get me. Futures look like a down start so maybe I should just keep busy doing other things than watching Vod's every move (downwards) and wait a tad longer for the turn in momentum. It will come eventually but how much "Sod" will I have to suffer.

Still you can only take what is on offer and when it turns I suspect it will be fast. Its been a while since it was this low but how much more downside is there to come? Sentiment is kicking this, so maybe over to the chart guys for their thoughts until the fundamentals kick back in.

Quick look at the Nasdaq gives 168 but futures show a drop........

I thought about a limit order @ 175 whilst away thinking I might be lucky and I generally buy too early!

So when to catch a falling knife? When does the value become compelling against all the negativity?

Of course it may never, risk is inherent in business and sometimes risks get too big. Still I'm likely to keep one eye out this morning for a further drop, looking to add some more income for life whilst accepting short term might get more difficult.

Is there blood in the water yet? Maybe half a tranche and save some more for the Sods law drop that happens after you buy ...... decisions decisions!

Poker, I did stress "were improving" not "are improving" the earlier gains seen in the reporting seem to be getting less and the problematic becoming bigger. Hence the earn the dosh comment!

As an ex Chartered Accountant, or is he still current? Im hoping he keeps a close eye on the numbers and starts to work a bit of magic. He has a lot of plates left spinning by Vittorio and many are wobbling or have fallen to the floor (India!) Can he get ahead of some of these whilst picking up some off the floor? City will be watching him like a hawk, Juggler or Joker.

Generally I dont like buybacks as companies seem to mess it up. Overpaying, wrong timing or stopping when they should be starting.

Still its the long term that counts and what happens in the future. Hopefully this buyback will look like a "great buy" before I decide to sell and results in bigger divis whilst I wait
