I have posted about this b4, I have known cases where this has happened for electoral reasons, as here.

My experience was that when told by a lawyer that if they make a decision which they have been told is invalid and will cost taxpayers money, they go ahead anyway.
Only if the lawyer is of sure opinion that such a decision would be reckless, and that the auditor might rule them INDIVIDUALLY liable for council costs, do they back off.

As for foil forecasts, I entered 21 Oct in reverandy's sweep, and will let that rest. However, I revised my thinking post agm after listening to Neil Platts commemts re commissioning and now think Nov or early d3c more likely. The post earlier on this thread re weather WOS reinforce my thinking on that. But there are enuff variables that my sweep guess just might squeeze in, or it just might b Jan 19. The climate being as unpredictable as the Donald, I think that's the best we can say.

I suspect it matters little the stripe of Councillors, the electoral dynamics will always make this v difficult.
Both main parties seem to be in the hands of extremists but this should not affect EOG, imho.

As these milestones pas, the chance must be increasing that someone jumps the gun, I know everyone is saying they want to see sustained production, but what they say and what they do may not be the same, especially if POO holds above £70.

Now I am not PREDICTING a FO/TO b4 Xmas, but imho the chances of one are far higher than the chances of early watering that we have done to death recently, or any other sort of well disappointment.

It's no good railing against this, it's called democracy ; as you say it would be electoral suicide to vote otherwise.

It is not councillors being hypocritical, they are merely reflecting the hypocrisy of an unthinking electorate.

Yes, I'm sure. But that could also describe Westminster, most boardrooms, BBs, and even the bar of my local .

As I said b4, councillors are only interested in votes, so will almost always turn these things down, even against officer advice. (NB This is not always limited to local govt, Whitehall has this problem too, especially the last 2 years) So these matters will usually go to appeal, even if officers point out it's pointless and the council will incur costs.

In any case this is a sideshow. the real value in this share is offshore Ireland.

Fair comment, but our under reported and maybe under appreciated COO Neil Platt is very well regarded and experienced, having previously run BG's NS ops.. "Teething" problems cannot be ruled out, but I'm not expecting anything significant.
