Hold and buy.
IMO we should see some of the gold investing herd pile in, and this board will happily be overrun by experts, 10-baggers, "rude not to top up" and ramptastic aim mining invetsors.
A big spike up It could give us all an opportunity to top-slice, take profit or average down.

Low in the channel, dividend in a few weeks, accounts look solid and progress is upwards.
Unless i'm missing something from initial research, this looks good for short term trade to ex-div then I'll decide whether to keep as an investment for a longer term, need to hold or top slice.

Since 2009
Before 2020 I had 3 holdings, one free (previous top-slicing), and two with terrible averages of 454p and 552p. !!
I now have 5 holdings, two of them free shares, and three with averages of 300p, 333p, and 356p.
It's been a slog to get those fee shares and averages down, trading and buying at lower prices.
Plan to hold and trade until 2022.2023 with a target SP to top slice of 600p, which IMO is possible when the dividend goes back to 2019 levels.

Broken down out of the channel. BP holding. RDS broken down. and selling lower than the ex-div drop.
I'm holding so time to batten down and go and do something else.

FTSE looking to open 60 point down.
Hope my decision to hold through isn't punished. I've noticed how the FTSE is not joined at the hip to the DJ like it used to be, BP may hold in that 305 to 310 support range, but dependent on the US$/ £ rate.

Did Musk only just watch the Greta documentary or something ? This was reported on a while ago. Musk must have cashed out of bitcoin, then announced this. Fickle markets or what.

40p is my target price as well.
No reason why not, especially with the up coming projects. They get priced in and production levels trend towards an upper limit of 400k oz.

This is exactly the kind of thing which makes a nonsense of share buybacks instead of paying down debt and gaining shareholder value in a business balance way. Don't issue the shares in the first place if you don't want them in circulation. Bonuses should be in cash not round the buyback mulberry bush. Anyway...

He is a good guy but that doesn't necessarily translate to good CEO. Good for shareholders to give him a kick now and again. I've had some lengthy email exchanges over the years too. Not out the woods yet and he's still in my investor doghouse for agreeing to dilute us at the lowest possible prices.
All will be forgiven only when this gets past 70p a share !

The balance sheet and expansion goes from strength to strength.
I invested after seeing an interview and short news piece about THG.

Back in this morning on the DIP. Bought at 308, sold at 322, back in at 290.
Missed out on the floor of 282, but was trading ex-divs elsewhere.
IMO this should rise towards the august div and UK opening up with CV-19 measures easing.
Onwards upwards.

The SP could well go lower, but I'll hold through.
The FTSE has been proper spanked so my opinion right now is that the bottom of this channel will hold.
Some point during this year the dividend will go up and the SP here will rocket.

Considering the placement price, there could well be many profit takers, meaning it may trend lower to give a new buying opportunity in the weeks ahead.

The FTSE went to to the top of the recent channel. The bottom of the current channel in the FTSE chart is at about 7000. The BP channel is different. It's more robust I'm ready to buy back in less than 308.

A good article and there are points that are well discussed currently but as far as valuation, one thing not mentioned is the historic and current valuation of BP's yield, and also that the Buyback only makes sense for shareholders when the SP is in the 290s or lower, otherwise, it's more profitable as dividend.

IMO BP's current yield has every right to be as low as Shell's or be at around 4% or lower on an expectancy of the dividend becoming higher towards 2022.

A 4% yield valuation on BP makes for an expected SP of 375p.
A 5% yield valuation on BP makes for an SP of 300.

IMO If it were not for the buyback that's where the SP would be, meaning once that 500m is spent, we should suddenly shoot northwards.

Ohmarko, that's a bit harsh as buybacks are not entirely stupid. They serve the short-termist, BOD greed nature of the stock market quite well. The problem only comes when you do the maths concerning dilution, debt payments, yield etc over the duration of the scheme and you realise that instead of all those buybacks, our share price would be several times as high as it is now with a higher dividend to match, and that's just if the money was kept in cash. Apple truly do have spare cash, BP does not, and neither did Sears.

Pay down debt.
The BP buyback long term since 2000 has proved to be a complete waste of money.
Investing 64 billion in buying back shares that they issued themselves is not an investment.
Neither has it provided shareholder value in any sense or angle you look at it over the long term.
Give the staff cash, or buy them shares at market value, or better still, pay off the debt and pay higher dividends, or buy development or profit yielding assets.

Totally overslept and looks like I'v missed a sweet point just after 8am to sell BP and buy RDS...

Considering the size of the dividend, this is like a large gap up.
I'm also looking to buy lower than 1500.
