Essentially we are arguing about which set of prices should be used to value mines. As noted below the focus from Peter is on spot pricing however company valuations are not being driven by those assumptions currently

What turns out to be the correct assumption will reveal itself over time and impact the industry.

The chaos in the USA I think all but guarantees cotec will build a plant and that is more than enough to underwrite the share prices even at spot prices.

There will always be innovation and subsitution.

Personally I don't want too much in the short term, my hope is cotec and mkango will just list this on the nsadaq in the near term. What happens in the long term can be someone else's problem.

Peter I appreciate your view on the SPAC. It seems to me you want to value everything using spot pricing.

The market however is acting differently. Mp materials and lynas are not making much and have multi billion market caps.

Other companies building mines have good market caps and the same pricing issues.

It seems to me you are stating rare earth companies in general are over valued.

If OEMs get too scared about using RE magnets there could be a huge drive to engineer them out.

We want people to still use them but also want to diversify their supply.

This was my optimal scenario.

It is not like the usa are going home and thinking we do not have a magnet crisis, they are going home and saying we have some time and need to fix it.

POTUS is not going to like having to cave due to some magnets, he will want the dependency fixed ASAP

Goverments are begging china for supply..anyone looking past their nose will understand govs will help projects. The uk spends 1bn usd a year on subsidising wind power. This will be supported.

Mka is a stock for people with vision. If you want a nice steady earner maybe this is not the right stock for you.

I think governments and corporations have now woken up. They see this industry, which is quite small interms of value but huge interms of the strategic industries it supports, auto factories are being shuttered!

Governments hand out subsidies to steel producers and farmers. The uk spends 1bn gbp paying for wind power that is produced but not even stored ( soon to rise to 8bn gbp by 2030).

Is handing our a few hundred million in price subsidies an issue now when you see the disruption

If we have forward looking politicians ( OK say no more!) Now is the time for price support.

This industry is more strategic than alot of others that such up favorable treatment

Sadly I don't think we can really estimate the npv, a prime reason being the company said some of the main costs also had spiked at the time of the dfs. These natural hedges will have declined.

It's clear all governments believe china is unfair, they are gov backed companies working on razor thin near 0 margins in the mid stream. They also have a big vat exception which they have been called out on.

Honestly,if governments want to fix this, they will have to deal with the root cause which is uncompetitive pricing.

You can give loans etc, but if someone is pricing unfairly you cannot compete. Its like stocking a plaster on an open wound.

The usa tarrifs will inflate the price of non China magnets. Even if eu producers emerge clearly, I would now just sell my magnets to the usa!

The EU and UK will probably need to get off the fence and start thinking about real support, be it subsidies or something else. Without this usa companies will probably just outbid other countries for new supplies.

The world needs to follow the usa in my opinion

Ed milliband seems to be constantly in the press defending high energy prices. Logic says they will get the approval.
