Why do you feel the need to try and talk down to me?
I FULLY understand what you are saying and the thinking you are applying.
I disagree with it and have given a fair example of why I come to my conclusion.

How does the government view it then if/when you sell in future (going on an assumption of not holding shares in a shares ISA or SIPP).
They would never receive anything from capital gains tax if it was as simplistic as your method.

Was you that said you did exactly that.
I can also do another "silly" example if you wish using the sale profits.
The end result is essentially the same.
You would in that case now hold MORE shares than your original stake cost for the same money and therefore your average would AGAIN be down in that example.
Shame some let themselves down when trying to be the "clever one" :-)

I had similar thoughts to sell some at the 97+ level as felt after yesterday's quick rise and morning fair chance of a drop back.
However, didn't and have see it go either way before and now reasonably happy it's fairly solid for a bit with upwards trend.
I did say some days back that Monday was realistically only a short term influencer as we have seen often UK news moves this SP both up and down disproportionately to its actual business..
In time once US is open again the true movement will come from US trade (being 75%).

P.S. I think some of our "experts" over there >> are full of **** as don't understand numbers half as much as like to make out.

Thanks for trying to ridicule me when infact I understand numbers VERY well.
It's a shame it appears you don't and instead try to belittle someone.

So for example
Held 10,000 @ 39p = £3,900 cost
Sell 8,000 @ 97p gives £7,760 proceeds now holding 2,000 shares
Buy back the 8,000 shares @ 92p costing £7,360
You now hold the same 10,000 shares you had costing £3,900 so ave 39p but they now have cost £400 LESS.
Therefore 10,000 at cost £3,500 reducing AVE to 35p.

Only point your average would be lower than it is now in that case would be at the point you held less shares i.e. after sale of part holding.

Assuming he didn't use more cash than he got from selling at a higher price of 97 to buy more shares at 92 than the 5p drop would have given him then NO his average price would NOT rise.
As you said it's not rocket science.

Abrooking I don't understand, you sold high, bought low so your average price can not have gone up. It can only have gone down.

Bonkers it is SP high since Covid, reached one day last May. Had two further days in June also over £1.

Hope that nasty toothache is far better today.

That's next target, and now reasonably sensible to think about.
It is highest SP has been (to date) since Covid effect.

Sammy, I would guess they are maybe still holding view that the business will still struggle and may yet hit further troubles.
As LTH we all have made our own cases for Cineworld and its future.
However we can't disregard there are still uncertainties.
We expect audiences to return, for cinema to be profitable. More profitable than before to enable managing/reducing the additional debt incurred during this year of covid.
NHC may see a business that I. Their opinion will need to raise further funds, restrictive in some form, fail under burden of debt.

Don't say I agree with their assessment, but it would be a not out of the question reason for their current and so far ongoing stance.

I also think next RNS will combine FY results AND as part of forward statement a confirmed re-opening schedule worldwide.
Fully Year results historically come out mid March, this year I can see an End March publishing.
All IMHO obv.

Personally don't think so sammy as there is other movies around these dates and it's early in reopening for them probably to be confident enough of maximising movie take.
November date I think makes sense.

Bond in winter I am happy enough with.
Allows cinemas to hopefully trade on decent returns from number of other good movies and with less and less social distancing then easier for them to run Bond at a time of year it has often released at before and people back in the groove of going to cinema. Let us have a true blockbuster again without having to utilise extra screens just for Bond.
Some Marvel goodies to fill the coffers before then :-)
As you say also gives us weeks of 1.5 - 2m jabs a day in US to get the real beast of this business moving :-)

Remember back in November when new financing was agreed and cinemas all closed.
There were several scenarios looked at and they went on a "base case" of opening no later than May :-)
Movie slate largely speaking has been moved from start of year upto May/June with a couple bigger movies starting the strong stream from that point into second half of year and well into next year and beyond.
