Keep in mind bank holiday weekend and US holiday weekends which we have just had in LPD links for May will be much higher than a years average for week

UK and Ireland box office $405.7m that's $7.8m.

I do not know how to disagree with business was closed most of this first half 2021 reporting period OR the company's own recorded financial results.

Next set of numbers will NOT be good, for anyone with half an ounce of intelligence that would be clear and obvious.
Next numbers are for the 6 months to end June 2021.
Business already stated it was losing c. $60m/month for the months start of this year closed.
We were almost entirely closed Jan - April (4 of 6 months)
May we were only nearing fully open by end of month.
Nothing in box office as of yet has made it clear we would be making profits for first few weeks of reopen.
Anyone, absolutely anyone that tries to say the next results will be profitable are not worth listening to or taking in any way seriously.
FACT!!!

Unless backed by "hard facts" continually saying we have had "exceptional" box office doesn't make it so.
1 or 2 new movies per week is NOT something amazing.
Pre covid we would be looking at a handful of releases pretty much every week (ok we may well have other smaller movies release alongside what we already know in coming weeks).
So far the content has been no better than average.
By your own statement's we are only just reaching 100% estate open and still mostly with levels of restrictions.

Yes, other poster is fairly likely to have had agenda and be nonsense.
Having your own ramping agenda isn't any more valid.

Business in time should recover well enough for holders to get good return on investment.
LTIP views it as c. 2.5 years for c. £2 target, not next month ;-)

As a previous investor it just seemed a little unusual to wait until you have made profit and out of share to post.
You made money - be happy.
You got answers re: others experiences and would also have seen many others over last few weeks of you had looked in.
Some quiet/some busy as it has always been really.
Good luck with your other investments for the kids.
If making nice pot for them is priority then it would seem time better spent on shares currently invested in or intending to invest in surely!?

You are correct (partially) in some points.
Rampers are potentially dangerous if someone is dumb enough to let a random internet BB post effect their investment choices.
Equally so are derampers.

The next set of financials will indeed be very poor, but less so than previous two sets and should show in later part of them and forward statement some more encouraging numbers.
Business was fully or largely closed for c. 75% of next results due to be published.
You do appear confused in your post on one hand stating it was only one person's visit once to one cinema and then you infer you are telling it as it is and warning investors not to be sucked in.

The true picture (as is most often the case) sits somewhere in the middle.
Screens are not all full to bursting, nor are they all 1 - 5 in attendance.
Already been to 12 movies since re-opening, all evening screenings I think and only 1 or 2 at weekend.
So not the busiest times, but not the quietest either.
Have had a range from 2 of us to c. 45/50.
Averaged over the 12 I would say it has been marginally below the 25 - 27 every single screening average the business had pre covid.
We are a very small number of weeks into re-openings and yet to have any of our "mega movies".
We rely on these to boost the average.
FF9 in a couple of weeks is our first.

With a couple of weeks takings in the tills we are hardly in a position to expect rocket launches in SP.

While the link between infections - hospitalisations - deaths would now appear to be getting severed by the benefits of our vaccination program there still seems to be a misunderstanding by many.
Even though the epidemiologist and other experts in the field have covered it countless times.

Currently only c. 41% of UK have had 2 jabs (and some of them not fully covered yet as had second Jag in last week/10 days.
One Jag only is not that effective against Indian variant. (Circa 33% effective).
While deaths and hospitalisations are the ultimate key.
It's is far too often forgotten/overlooked that the more people able to transmit the virus the more new variants we will get.
The more variants we get the greater the chance of getting one or more that evades current vaccines and potentially leads to a further uptick in hospitisations and deaths.

This is why we still have travel restrictions, why the government and science are wary yet and why there is a concentrated effort to keep on with vaccinations and likely a move to Jag 12 - 15 year olds.

So far we have had Disney, Walmart, Jangho and now Amazon (pretty sure others have been quoted as "very likely buying) all ready to snap up Cineworld.
Mostly a lot of utter tosh if I am frank.
If and when one day in the future someone shows a serious interest and then actually buys the business then great.
For now however it's non beneficial fantasy.

Ever stop for a minute and consider it is not one great big conspiracy that of all the shares in the world Cineworld has been picked and somehow we the "longterm" (remember that term) holders are somehow being cheated out of the shares correct current valuation.

There are reasons to consider we may currently be higher, but equally reasons for where we are and that we could be lower still.
For every $203m Cares Act money in there is a c. $250m disgruntled shareholders liability out.

Couple weeks and couple fairly strong film reports is not worthy in themselves of suddenly seeing us at £1:50.

Ongoing demand over medium and long-term is to be proven again (I feel it is there).
Massive debt to earnings ratio which got worse in last year (to be expected) needs the above for a start to show it can still be serviced and indeed reduced (I believe this can be done).
There is still the matter of break down in cinema chain purchase and possible cost implications to be resolved.
Covid worldwide is still an issue to be taken seriously even if USA and UK have made good vaccine progress.
Company is one of UK most shorted for a reason, and that reason isn't pure chance and to frustrate a few BB posters on lse.
Wearing rose tinted spectacles for our investments does not make everything Rosey and share price any higher.

Be realistic, see the fuller picture and armed with all information you have stick or twist ;-)

Ant that's pretty clearly now how this moves through next phase. A booster jag at intervals deemed fit (maybe at different intervals dependant on vulnerability).
I would hope even that is fairly short lived and replaced by take at home pill/inhaler/patch easing almost completely the pressures on worldwide health systems.

What I would add re: average attendance per screen is it doesn't actually give us a great picture.
Attendance is heavily skewed to the MEGA movies and weekend showings.
I would say the majority of Cineworld or any multiplex screenings are below their required average i.e. daytime and during week showings will be lower with the exception of when we get for example a Marvel movie.

Woodcot I did a rather detailed analysis on this a week or two back and it worked out at (if I recall correctly) between 25 - 27 people per screening.
That was based on data you used plus the number of screenings I saw in week at my fairly typical multiplex. (12 screens) Think it was c. 40 shows per day between them average.

Bonkers I was almost tempted to go over and ask her if she minded us sitting together.
That way we could at least pretend we were a couple and not two individual Billy and Norma no mates ;-)

If I recall correctly the sarcastic comments were most certainly not at that individual.
It is not (in most cases) the way of most of this board.

I almost had screen to myself tonight, only one other person.
That's the reality of cinema as we know though.
Many many movies and screenings with single digit audiences, the reason those big ones are so important to us.
FF9 on its way to hopefully give us first taste of that in a while.

If I recall correctly I don't think he was saying you were as bad as IDW.
Rather others on the board (maybe myself, Ash, itrader and some others) are as bad as IDW, but was suggesting you were dumb for not seeing us for what he sees us as.
