The chinese need another 290m shares to look like they can force the issue although a counter bid scuppers all that anyway as BHP et al don't have to hand over their stock to the chinese UNTIL the offer is completed. They have 'pledged' them and that counts for not much until they are transacted.

18m volume today suggests most are just sitting on their hands right now waiting to see who comes out and counters.

Someone will come and bid higher simply because the asset is that great. BHP clearly have no interest in Ecuador. That's fine. Move along. NEM inherited the 10% stake so were never tight holders.

Lets see what the TR1's bring in.

Someone has to come forward with a counter bid... if they don't then what on earth is going on with the metals/mining market.

Does no one want billions in profits? The open pit / shallow production alone would deliver multi billions and the block cave could just be JV'd or % funded.

To all Super majors out there that need copper and gold and all Private equity funds that like a game... there's an asset up for sale right now which is worth around $5bln on a 'risk' basis and $10bln on derisked.... it's currently being bid at under £1bln.

So grab yourself a bargain ... and make a bid.

Anyone can come in and counter bid. They know that BHP and NEM are out of picture.

So it's just an open bid game with the chinese.

Anyone can chance their arm and push Chinese to raise offer. Needs a Glencore, Anglo, Barrick, Gina, Codelco... someone to see this as opportunity to snatch it from Chinese at a still... bargain price assuming 40's wins.

BHP were always a bidders fear. They have essentially opened the door to anyone wanting to make a bid will go unchallenged by them.

Doesn't matter what the bid is... at end of the day if no one wants to come in and beat the Chinese to it... then that's that. That's the value that ALL super majors place on a Tier1mine in Ecuador and 60 regional licences.

We know the market values Solaris Resources at £1bln with a lesser asset and less regional folio.

Considering the market backdrop right now... there has to be someone out there that steps forward and bids over £1bln. Why wouldn't they? They can make more than that from TAM and Porvenir (open pit) and don't even have to touch the block cave mine.

Remember... Dec 12th is when Ecaudor close the bids on 12 x Solaris blocks. It's not a coincidence imho that this date coincides with today's news.

Someone was keen to get this done BEFORE news breaks on WHO has taken on those blocks in Ecuador.

Remember, this is the first time Ecuador have done a closed bid process on 12 x blocks in years.

We'll know who bought them either over weekend or next week.

I think the Board rejected 26p as way too cheap. But when they found out BHP had got it in for Bob and his bat and would rollover for 28p as well as NEM... they knew they had to rollover.

Still possible another player out there will come forward and counter bid but for time being the assumption is... it's a done deal. So many traders and investors just pull money out now rather than have it locked up months of due diligence etc. Market then drops it to 25p to penalise those that want their cash early. Chinese mop that up and end up getting the biz for 26p level after all.

Fun innit! NOT.

Now all about the Lundin's Barrick, Gina's Rio's Glencore's etc. Who wants it? Surely a counter bid of 32p adding another £120m is worth a go by someone??

They'll be mopping up what they can so be careful selling early.

Dan... when the Chinese have been booted, be a bit careful with using too high metal prices otherwise we'll be so huge even BHP will have to walk away.

A bid at 36p+ on a closing sp of 29p... looks so much better than a close of 33p (which is where it was heading before someone pulled a rug.. about same time as canaccord disappered lol!).

Eitherway... anything that starts with 3 is destined for the bin unless it has a £ prefixing it and then bingo... add to cart!.

They better get a jog on otherwise the sp will be back at 32p again. But this time with a much cooler RSI. That's for the TA guys and gals.

They haved double our capex and we have about 3 or 4 tomes their resources and half of their capex... although suspect ours will rise with TAM.

We also have used metal prices in our PFS that are way way lower than theirs.

So Mr lui... perhaps you can explain why your bosses think our asset is inferior to Solaris's asset?? Perhaps you could explain why our fellow explorer is priced to highly by the market?? Run along now.

Bradlmi1, I suggest you read your own posts again and see if the shares are still in your drawer or whether you accidentally sold them.

Every day now... they just keep building. Now almost 40m shares. Global X also bought more circa 250k block.

Certainly alot of available stock yesterday. From the traders/retail into the hands of the specialists.
