I think we have to accept that this is really just the 'new' flu.
Just like the old version that has been around for 1000's of years and up until 2020 we never really paid much attention unless is was a new variant, like the 'Spanish Flu'. Normally 30-40k people die from flu annually in the UK? So we will be higher for a few years, then it will 'normalise' and be accepted again. MSM likes to pivot from one doomsday scenario to another. They want the sheep to run from one gate to the other just to keep them confused.
Smart governments will not allow **** downs again unless they want their economies to tank into the abyss. Keeping people safe will not work as funding for hospitals and health care will dry up if no one is paying taxes so all will happen is everyone will be broke and sick.
Take the view of the poor in India and ****stan when asked about climate change or Covid and their response was simple, "what do I care about these things that may happen tomorrow if I die from starvation today?"

Bobbins, agree with you, we are like boat without a rudder at the moment, anything can and most likely will happen.
I initially bought last year to keep for a year, then lost my shirt, so bought more end of last, lost more.
At this point I'm thinking I may as well hold now, no longer the 12-18 months but more than likely 24-48 months.
The sp will come back, not to the pre-pandemic levels but closer to the 300 mark and that may well be the new normal.
I did think that after covid people, especially business will want to return to F2F meetings, but in the last month I think that has now changed and may never return.
Our world has changed, I hope this is the extent of it as anything worse could mean mean the end of civilisation as we know it.
