We would be guilty by association. As a shareholder and part owner of Avacta I would massively resent rewarding this Government for gross incompetence and the damage they have done.

A good product will sell itself. We can do well without the UK but it is hugely disappointing that this and other great British companies have been treated this way .

Before 1940 the Air Ministry regarded the Spitfire with disdain. A senior figure in the Air Ministry described the Spitfire as obsolescent. Even Churchill was not enthused.

There were big time teething problems in production- these were only resolved when Lord Beaverbrook became minister for aircraft production in 1940. Then a legend was born.

It just goes to show how clueless and short sighted our leaders were then- not unlike the present day.

If only somebody in authority now could see a new way of doing things, be open to new ideas and technology. We live in hope.

We share one world, the idea you can keep a clear conscience by “outsourcing” your supply of raw materials to another country is ridiculous. Better to lead by example and show how mining can be done in the cleanest possible way.

Mining in Sweden is a traditional activity , as is reindeer herding. The two can live together without one having to destroy the other.

I think Thor does not wish to be seen as not listening to the Sami but they have had enough extensions for a response. It is beyond belief that, after all these years, they need extra time to think about this application. If the issue was of such importance to them , the idea that they need a translation of the UNESCO document in order to comment is crazy. They would have looked at that report instantly.

I think Thor is going through the motions but has already made up his mind.

Another thing the Sami should consider is that an approval means more jobs, a larger more prosperous population, more people with more money to spend in the local markets. Local farmers/ herders have every opportunity to capitalise on this.

Sounds like there should be a criminal investigation of him and all his friends and family who have been involved in contracts.

I’d be worried about reputational damage by working with them.

The speed of our progress in Finland, the financial support we are receiving and the enlightened attitude to mining in Finland is in total contrast to Sweden. No wonder Sweden is falling like a lead balloon in the Frazer Institute mining league.
The press in Sweden should be all over this and embarrass Baylan and the Government. Ministers paid good salaries and pensions for doing nothing.

Killerpigeon, bearing in mind the UK trumpeted our vaccine success as a plus for Brexit it is hard to imagine UKGov would want to let EU steal a March by ordering first. At least that would be my hope!

Sadly there are always faceless people on social media, even on the telephone,who feel comfortable to insult, belittle and even threaten others opinions. The comments of such people are invariably a reflection on them rather than the person they are addressing. It reflects cowardice, inadequacy in themselves and other traits no doubt.
99% of people will take no notice of people like that. Best wishes.

Rolly . Your maths doesn’t stack up. You do realise £50m is just 3.57% of 1.4 billion? Do you seriously think the “clever bit” representing our best in class patented technology is worth that? You are picking figures out of thin air. It is wildly misleading and almost certainly seriously inaccurate.

Many of the sentiments expressed here re the UK and business are spot on.

Certainly many of our CEO’s are obsessed with massaging their share price and getting the biggest possible bonuses. They think short term, take on debt to buy back shares and so on. Long term strategy is lacking.

Many criticisms can be levelled at China but one thing they are blessed with is the ability to think and plan for the long term. We can learn from that - hopefully.
