The US has always followed beggar thy neighbour trade policies, Trump has just lifted the veil in a massive way. Biden did it with policies like the Inflation Reduction Act, another beggar thy neighbour policy which everyone could see for what it was, but kept quiet about.
The UK has lost massive amounts of businesses to US companies backed by US finance, which always defied belief in my opinion, look at companies like Cadbury and many small UK unicorns either snapped up at bargain prices, or listed in the US rather than the UK.
While the US has encouraged massive injections of cash into both startup and established Tech companies, with super light competition regulation, the UK has over regulated our own established companies to ensure they'll never be able to compete with US companies. I'd never heard of CrowdStrike before they shutdown most of the World, with their software update, but it amazed me when I saw their Market Cap valuation, currently $79.72 billion, with a revenue of only $3.95 Billion and a Net Income of -$19.27 Billion; My point is with US companies valued at huge multiples compared to UK companies, they can just sell stock and take over undervalued profitable UK companies and grow through acquisition. I'm surprised the US Flag isn't themed on the Jolly Roger, because for me It feels as though we've been plundered.
